2006 Burgman 650, left side of the bike, right beside the dipstick is a hole. What is it, where does it go, and why would there be water coming out of it other than the bike was in a flood? Thanks for any leads!

Sugarscoot IMO someone drilled this hole? The service manual I told you about doesn't show this hole at all, look on page number 31.

I looked at every picture in that manual JR. LOL I don't think it's drilled though, it looks machined in, no signs of aftermarket drilling that we can see. Dwayne says it may be a hole that was used to hold it while machining. So far, no sure fire answers. :

That picture also still has the tupperware in the way of the hole. It's just to the right of the grid pattern.

I know someone at work that has a 650 burgman. I will ask him and also see if his has the same hole.

OK so a hole in the crankcase right by the oil fill spout? I see what you mean on the plastics in the way in the manual but a hole with nothing sticking in it ? If it's not threaded then it has to either have a rubber plug to keep water and dirt out of the engine or there is some lind of hose say like a vent line that goes in it.
No way would they drill this hole just to leave open to the elimates.

That's my thinking too JR. LOL In the manual it says something about a hole with a plug for you to make sure the piston is at TDC when setting valve lash. Maybe plugs missing and this is it? I have no clue, Dwayne says probably not. Haven't "looked" for the plug and peep hole yet. We will for sure find a way to plug it. It doesn't have vacuum, got the bike to idle, but not enough fuel to rev yet, or water/oil shooting out while running, just trickling clear water from where they PUT OUT A FIRE!! LOL Used carb cleaner as starter fluid, got set on fire briefly, put it out with the water hose. This is turning out to be highly entertaining if nothing else! LOL.

Same as your pic , he had to remove the cover to see it . I stuck a pen insert in the hole it goes about 1/2 of an inch in . He says he has a manual and will look to see what it is ,it got his wheels spinning . He wants to know as well.

Curiouser and curiouser! LOL Same thing we found here. Only I can't find a single picture in the service manual that actually shows that spot without the plastics. I may just run by the dealer here tomorrow and show them the pic, see if they have any ideas.

JR, tvnacman, go to section 2-22, upper right hand picture shows the hole! No clue what it's for, but there's no plug in that one either.

Humm that is odd. Now i don't have a burb, but just looking at it it seems like some kinda water pump seep hole. looked around and found this.. not that it's of much help but.. heck i wanted to know as well. burgmanusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=55188In some odd way i think that if it is, it would be a good place to put one if only because if you had a water pump seal fail and it leaks right near the oil fill... you're going to look and investigate ASAP. Hey just a thought.

LOL JR, don't know them personally YET. But I'll sure go make friends at the dealership now. ; We'll keep you posted if we find anything out about it. larrball, the water pump's on the opposite side of the bike, not sure how that would be a weep hole for it. Besides, the hole is in the cylinder block part of the engine, it would have to weep uphill.
