Does that hole intrude into the exhaust port? If so, maybe it's some kind of crankcase ventilation, like a pcv valve on a car. Just a guess.

i dont know but i am thinking it is due to manufacturing steps and is for aligning it in the machine work at the factory

justbuggin2, that's exactly what the husband was thinking. wheezy, it's a dead end hole as far as I know now. I didn't investigate it, hubby asked me to find out about it, so I posted here after looking at the manual for it. We're currently waiting the arrival of a fuel pump for it. The regulator was also bad along with the sock filter and pump, so we just broke down and bought the whole dang assembly. We'll keep y'all updated on the progress!
