I Install this R/R on a Baja SC50S.

Now I would need the pinout since someone change the wires in the plug that goes to the R/R.

I have a red (+12vdc to battery)
a green (ground)
a yellow and a white. Voltage AC from the coil (new one)

Now if you could tell me which wire goes on which pin of the R/R, I would be back in business.

First of all welcome to the forum.

Now take a look at this typical Chinese R/R pin out and see if it'll do the trick:



IN1 = yellow
IN2 = white
OUT = red
GND = green


If not then we'll go back to the drawing board.

Hi,

Ok, I plug the wires as the picture, everything is fine until I plug the green (ground) then my VAC which were 27 vac on yellow and 22 vac on white, dropped around 3.5 vac???

NO pin of the R\R goes to ground???

So near yet so far )

Do you have the R/R bolted up and grounded?

yes, I cleaned the frame to metal first and bolted it solid, but no pin is short to the body of the R\R?

Are your headlights ac or dc ? and when you plug the ground what is the system voltage on the red ?

Headlight is AC, the battery is totally remove from the circuit at this time. When I plug the red wire I can read around 5 or 6 vdc but when I plug the ground it goes down to 3 VDC,,,

do you have a meter that will read high resistance . Does your stock regulator look like the one in the pic above ?

Yes I have a good meter for that. yes the old regulator looked like this one AND it was shorted to the body of the R\R... but the guy before me change the R\R 3 times... so...what was the original? But I can see that the pinout is not the same one between the old one and the on I got (reply # 2)

the readings were taken from a good regulator the . The measurments were taken from pin to pin rotationg around . I have a regulator that will cause overcharging , if you want it to work you will need to add a balast resistor . I never got the problem sorted out , one regulator will overcharge , the other ones will charge perfect with dim headlights . The whole thing is a crap shoot on the regulators . With JR's help I ended up converting to 11pole stator and 7pin regulator . Perfect 14-14.5 charging voltage , converted to dc lights .

shit,,, not looking too good ,,, I already change the stator (8 poles) and the regulator... What I got in hand now is a basic full wave rectifier (4 diodes, 2x2 in séries...) anything to do with that?

remember there is a filter/capactor internal of the regulator , it could alter you resistance readings . Itook the readings in resistance not diode check . Remember a capacitor will pass ac and block dc . The cheapest way out is the the overcharger and balast resistor . You could up the wattage on the bulbs to keep the voltage down . I have heard of blowing every bulb on a scooter because of acv going too high . ( I suspect when one bulb goes and one does not see it the voltage spikes and blows the rest of them)

What year is the scooter post 07 no ballast resistor pre 07 they came with ballast resistors .
