Dang It!
Just when I finally decide to pull the trigger..............
They are out of stock!
Maybe this will give them a chance to get rid of the mis-labelled engines.
Who knows, maybe July was a good month for engines in China - Unlike the month that they made my original

I would never buy an engine that is 'no-name'... there are just too many ma & pa engine builders in China and you have no idea what you are getting...
If it says Znen or Lifan or Linhai you stand a better chance of some quality.

Who sells these brands you just mentioned? I dont remember seeing them anywhere I've looked and I know the engine in my Roketa MC-74 has been a real good one so far but I have never seen a brand name on it anywhere. Just curious about who sells the "name brands" Peace I would never buy an engine that is 'no-name'... there are just too many ma & pa engine builders in China and you have no idea what you are getting... Not sure...I buy engines in Canada and they are Lifan from MBE
Alway ask for the engine number like - LF 1P57QMJ - before you buy.
The first two initials are the engine manufacturer.. there are databases you can search for more information.

Thanks sprocket, you just learned me something new....LOL! I found this info. which doesn't ecplain engine brand in the code but has other helpful info. Now I will have to go and look at mine to see what mine says on it. Peace So you found a code on your buggy or scooter and you're wondering what it means. The code can actually tell you a lot about a specific engine.
You can find your engine code below the CVT cover, beside the oil drain plug.
We'll take a look at the most common engine code: 157QMJ. The first thing to note is that the actual code always starts with the first number, and continues for a total of 6 digits. Anything extra is a manufacturer-specific information that won't be covered here at this time.
Lets disect the code starting with the first digit: (Digit #1) Corrasponds to the number of cylinders. All GY6 engines are single cylinder, so this number will always be 1.
(Digit #2 and #3) This is the bore size in metric millimeters, in the case of the 157QMJ, our bore is 57mm. Note that 57.4mm bore engines fall under the "57" designation.
(Digit #4) relates to the style of engine. All GY6 engines are designated "Q".
(Digit #5 and #6) The actual size of the engine. The second letter ascends consecutively for each 10cc. MB = 50cc, MC = 60cc, MD for a 70, MH = 110cc, MI = 125cc, MJ = 150cc
That is pretty much it for the standard codes stamped on most GY6 and other Chinese engines. We will add more information about manufacturer-specific codes as we find it out. Not sure...I buy engines in Canada and they are Lifan from MBE Alway ask for the engine number like - LF 1P57QMJ - before you buy. Well, I just went and looked at mine and it looks like the example above, te numbers between the stars are different on mine but the ID code is just like it ( 157QMJ ) nothing before it or after it....Shrug.
So I dont know who made mine but it has been a good one so far and I figure it is mostly like all the chinese made engines we buy over here......Luck of the draw in most cases, you might get a real good one, you might get a so so one or you might get a lemon......no matter what the "Brand" is.
I have been tinkering with motorized bicycles now for almost 2 years, and all the engines I have used on them are 2 smokers made in China, there are several different brands of them and different makers in china but almost all parts interchange perfectly and no matter what the brand is some are great and others are trouble right out of the box from the cheapest to the most expensive.....
Peace, Shan

A common code has a 'P' after the one.. like LF1'P'57QMJ... the P is a taller head on the engine. The cam chain is longer, the valves are larger, the cam is more aggressive and the ports are larger... Th 'P' engines are able to develop about 1.2 HP more than a standard engine Most of the engines from major manufacturers are 'P' type now... Attachments:

Wow, this thread just gets better and better! As an LF-1P57QMJ owner, the extra detail on the 'p' head is nice. More OT though...I dunno about Buggy depot. Never heard of 'em (not that that means anything). Model info would be nice. Seems to be a standard longcase 150 with shiny cover. Depends on whether shiny is there to add bling to a well-built engine, or distract attention from the rest of the engine's shoddy quality (Ooo! Sparkly! ). I dunno how rich you are, but a new engine isn't something I'd want to take that gamble with. Were I in your shoes and $425 was a do-able swing for that, I would much rather cough up the extra $75 for scrappy's 161QMK. (Which I now understand, to my great delight, is apparently a single-cylinder, uber-huge 61mm 'big bore' GY6 "170" ;D) No replacement for displacement and all that, the 20 xtra cc's will undoubtedly help. Oil cooler will help those cooling concerns you mentioned. Scrappy's a trusted vendor on multiple scooter sites, which does impart at least an air of trustability (scooter forum enthusiasts generally being pretty unforgiving when it comes to crappy vendors, and righfully so). Anyway... just my $0.02.

@ Evilgenius
Your Lifan have a 4 bolt valve cover with large bolts straight through the cover? Mine 2010 does...really weird engine, I have never seen another like it!
I agree... if I was to replace the engine in mine I would be going 250ccs..bolts right in...
