It Lives , YEE HAW !!!! First things first, a big thank you goes out to JR , without who's help I may never have gotten this thing running. And thanks to alleyoop and justbuggin2 for their help also, and Scrappydog who took really good care of me. Now I need to do some tuning on the CVT. I have 5g sliders and a 1500rpm torque spring. It takes off good but in my opinion shifts to soon, about the time it gets into the power band it shifts. It doesn't just dog out but it quits pulling hard. I am thinking a 2000rpm torque spring , but I am guessing. Any thoughts on were to start tuning the CVT ? I will try to post some pics of the scoot in the next few days.

Awesome Rangerdave! So the new 5-wire stator you got from Curtis was bolt and play? Just wanting to be sure so if I run into this again I'll be better educated! Been a long hassel but for sure did we not learn about this scooter! JR

The stator was pretty much plug and play the flywheel ID was much larger bore at the crank than mine so I had to use the old one. I have learned so much about hooking up CDI's from you that I was able to hook it up. Now if I can just tune the CVT. Here is what the scooter looked like when I started.

Well don't forget the Petrol place I found because they had an identical flywheel according to their measurements.
The funny thing about this engine type is lot's of parts fit both model scooters but yet some don't, example both stators 5-wire and 6 wire will fit but the flywheel center bore is different on each engine so that means the crankshaft is different as far as size goes.
Welcome to the wonderful world of scoters!
Now don't be a stranger, this new found knowledge can be put to use plus we'll want to see the next project.

JR, I just noticed that you are from Petit Jean Ark. I grew up in Clarksville Ark. I'v lived in Russellville, Dardanelle, and up on Crow Mountain, I went to Petit Jean Votech in the early 80's Morrilton was the closest place to buy beer back then lol. Small world huh. Thank you for all the help, without it I may never get this thing running again. I will be at Ky lake this weekend, but will be back Monday. Damn, small world. I'm an Arkie as well. Central Arkansas is where I'm at. I know this post was from a long time ago, but there is a scooter store in Little Rock called River City Cycles that also works on scooters. Their prices aren't super high, but also not super low lol.

figured I'd revive a long dead post again, simply because I stumbled into this, got sucked in and discovered the AR connection. I myself currently reside in Fort Smith after transplanting here the better part of a decade ago. I've worked on a ton of scooters and had managed to trade and work from a 50cc tao tao --> 5 random 50cc bought sold --> 2009 Sym HD200. That was my love, yet sadly someone decided to take it out my back yard. Even though they were on camera it took a year before the police did anything and by the time I even knew they had it was all over and done and to this day I've not received a single penny in restitution. Now I've been given a Kymco Agility 50 from a co worker that a neighbor had tweaked out on and hasn't run since. I haven't touched any scoots since my SYM got stolen, still makes me sick thinking about it, but I just got a new cdi in the mail and am starting the process once again of rebuilding a little scoot from scratch. I used to be able to fix most anything on these but I feel like that was a different life! I'm sure I'll be coming back here asking for help on this current project, and I plan on repairing, rebuilding and trading my back to something on par with that big ole Sym again so I will be here quite often. I really should of just put all this in a welcome thread -- wasn't expecting to go on and one outside of "Hey, I'm a scooter nut in AR too! Neat!" but here we are. And on that note, I'm out! Hi all, be bugging ya'll soon! I'll go toss this, modified into the welcome section, just because.
