Well, it took running into an old prison buddy who happens to be a motorcycle mechanic. The solution is take everything off the donor scooter (toatao VIP 150) and order a complete wire harness and electrical parts for that scooter. I'll basically be riding a toatao VIP 150 disguised as a 50cc Yamaha zuma. But I got a pocket bike from a friend a few weeks ago that only had a few problems. Got it fixed up and am taking a break from working on the zuma toatao project that I refer to as Frankenstein.

Lol yeah it's a consideration alright... And I'm starting to consider just pushing this thing off a cliff. Instead of a mechanic I feel like I need a technician to figure it out. A technician that works on space ships.

I checked but it says there aren't any files in electric section. I've spent about 3 hours today just trying to lay it all out and match. I've even considered just swapping all of the damn parts out.

I put a Chinese gy6 150cc along with the trans and rear tire that came off a beat up Taotao VIP 150 on a 2004 Yamaha Zuma 50. I went from only going like 35mph with the 50cx to lower 50s mph. All i did was unbolt the motor mount from the frame and booted it to the Zuma. I had to do a little bending and hacksawing on the Zuma's frame to get the 150s motor mount bolted on. Fairly simple. The Zuma's electric system ran the engine just fine...until I had a short in the wiring and burned the cdi up and melted the wires. I just went and bought a new gy6 CDI, wire harness and the other parts from the Taotao but I'm having trouble hooking up the Zuma's lights, starter, etc to the gy6 harness because the colors of the wires are different and I can't find the wire diagrams to show me how to match them.

Hello everyone. Just joined today. Been looking for some help with my scooter. I put a gy6 150cc engine and transmission from a beat up Taotao on my 2004 Yamaha Zuma 50. It ran fine for awhile until something shorted out. So now I've got a new wire harness and CDI for gy6 and the other electrical parts from the Taotao that I'm gonna put on the Zuma. My problem is that all of the Zuma's lights, starter...everything has a different color code from gy6. I'm gonna have to splice the Zuma's wires to the gy6 harness. Can't seem to find any info on how to match the Zuma to the gy6.

JR, I just noticed that you are from Petit Jean Ark. I grew up in Clarksville Ark. I'v lived in Russellville, Dardanelle, and up on Crow Mountain, I went to Petit Jean Votech in the early 80's Morrilton was the closest place to buy beer back then lol. Small world huh. Thank you for all the help, without it I may never get this thing running again. I will be at Ky lake this weekend, but will be back Monday. Damn, small world. I'm an Arkie as well. Central Arkansas is where I'm at. I know this post was from a long time ago, but there is a scooter store in Little Rock called River City Cycles that also works on scooters. Their prices aren't super high, but also not super low lol.

I swapped out my 2004 Yamaha Zuma 50cc engine, transmission and back tire for a gy6 150cc that came off a Taotao VIP. The Zuma's electric system ran the gy6 fairly well until I messed up and had a bad connection somewhere that fried my cdi and melted the wires. So I decided it would be best to order a new cdi and wire harness for gy6 and put it on the Zuma. My problem is that the Zuma and gy6 have a different color code. None of the Zuma's plugs fit the gy6 harness plugs for all the lights, signals, starter...basically everything that's part of the electric system. I'm going to have to cut off the Zuma's plugs and splice the Zuma wires to the gy6 harness. I've looked and looked for a diagram or something to show me how to match them together. Can someone please help me out?
