So I put the new seal in... granted I have no clue what I'm doing. I pushed it in until it seemed to "stop". I hope that was what I was supposed to do. Couldn't find any videos on it. It is still spewing oil into the CVT once again. I don't know what to do with this thing. it has been out of commission for a month now.

I see this is the one that had the Blue RTV on it. Did you clean out the hole before putting in the new seal? The Seal you got was it nice and tight on the CASEING and on the Shaft. It may be the wrong size seal. What motor is this.

50cc I believe... the side with the numbers... that is the only seal I have... i was also going to ask, is it normal for it to leak oil after just putting a new seal in... does the seal need to "set" in it or something?

Ok the seal has two sides , when you installed the seal did you see the side with the numbers or the side with empty space with the spring .

Yea you can see he installed the seal correctly with the numbers out. What I question is if its the correct seal size and if the caseing where the seal goes was clean and did not have the blue rtv pieces in there.

it's clean and snug. it is the same size I believe. maybe there is a piece of something or another still in it

where can I get some of this RTV stuff... I'm bout tired of messing with it. i don't feel like waiting another week for one in the mail.

In another forum, someone told me that the seal is pushed in too far and needs to be flush. is this true?

possibly. it could be past the inner sealing machined surface on the shaft. you cannot simply RTV it. it is a rotating shaft and must have a lip seal. it is not installed backwards, for the people who keep asking, LOOK AT THE PICTURE.  Also, check to see if your valve cover vent line is pinched or clogged. If the valve cover cannot let out crankcase pressure, it will blow oil out of anywhere it can. also, if the crankshaft is "buggered" or scratched up, in ANY way, it won't seal. at all. Also some of those seals have a spring in the middle to keep the tension on the shaft, some don't. see if yours fell out. When you install a seal, lube the crank and the seal itself with vasaline or bearing grease so it doesn't start up dry. |

If the crank case vent is plugged you will never get it to seal.
