Well, I did not make it back in a week, just too much going on. I did, I think find why my trike would not wind up like it should. The fuel pump went out and Jim at Rapid Repair went to bat for me with IB and I am the proud owner of a huge new fuel pump that "works". My speed and the smooth running of the engine is greatly improved. My take is that the engine was starved for fuel at higher speeds. I am close enough to road worthy that I took it up to 45 and it ran easy at the speed. I had run a fuel flow test early on but that was at 2K rpm and that was all good.
Right now I think my problem is solved, we will see when I get to the 300 mile mark and I take a long WOT run. If I can get past 50 mph I will be happy. The type of riding I will be doing makes 45 a respectable speed.
I do appreciate the input that you all gave me and I will sometime in the future take another look at improving the top end. Thanks again for all the help and thanks to Jim at Rapid Repair for his help.

You are probably going to have to buy a pair that will fit and change out.

Safety..

In New Mexico they do not see you no matter how much "bright, loud, blazing, orange, etc" that you can muster so the "ride as if you are invisible" is the rule here. These drivers will even follow you off the road if you try to escape that way.
I use a lot of lights and they are always on when I am riding, I may look silly but!! I also have a set of "Bad Boy" horns that would wake the dead but they are not enough if the four wheeler has the stereo blaring so loudly that the pavement is vibrating.
I use all the bicycle and motorcycle safety rules that I am aware of. I was a Harley rider for 60 years before I bought my scoot and I use every bit of experience that I gained in that time to stay upright. It doesn't hurt to say a prayer before each ride either!

I have one that resulted in true justice. A young man ( a policeman) that I know lost his wife because a hospital did not treat her properly, actually it was gross negligence. His wife's parents wanted to sue the hospital but the young man would not have any part in it because he did not believe in law suits (even though this one was legit).
So the parents sued anyway, they even claimed the young man should have done more to save his wife putting him through a really rough time. Anyway, the jury awarded 3 million but gave it all the the young man even though he did not file the suit or want anything to do with it. The parents got nothing!
Now I call that guided justice!

I think my trike weighs about 300 curb. If I could get it so it would cruise at about 45 without hurting the engine I would be a happy camper.
Jr, I do have a tach. The speedometer and tack are digital and seem to be fairly accurate gaging it on the starting rpm and the idling speed. Haven't checked the speedometer against the car but I will be doing that soon.
I plan to try the belt thing after a couple projects are done so I will be back in about a week. I feel better about it all ready. I was afraid I was going to have a problem getting it to cruise at 45.

My motor is still too new to run wot so that will need to wait. I am 240 lbs and the scoot is an Ice Bear viking that is a Ruckus knock off. 150 cc and I have about 100 miles on it. I had read the thread about marking the variator but have not tried it because it is still in break in. The manual wants 300 miles before running over 45 mph.
I do have a tach and take off is about 32 to 3500 and I can hear the rollers go into place. When I try to pull into a drive with a low curb it takes about 5K to get over the hump. If I have been riding for awhile it takes much too long to get it over the hump but I have not checked the tach under that condition. Today I also notice a rattling sound when accelerating. I will check it out more tomorrow because I also have a fender rattling and I need to fix that before I can find where the other noise is coming from.
Thank you all for the fast response!
Perhaps it is too early to do anything about it right now but it is worrisome and I would like to be able to do something as soon as possible.

I have read all the posts about sliders/weights and have not found a match for my situation, sooo!
I am a bit heavy for a 150cc trike and my top speed is only about 47/48 mph and I think I am getting a lot of slippage when at wot. I am definitely getting a lot of slip when going up hill. My question is should I put in lighter weight sliders for better pull or heavier ones. What else would be a help to increase top end without any major overhauls (or a lot of money)?

If you have ever wondered how to find a dealer that will go to bat for you with the supplier/importer, look no further!
Rapid Jim at Rapid Repair is the best of the best and I would put his service up against any and all comers. I shopped via the BBB, the forums and blogs until I found Jim. He does not have a blemish of any kind on his record. He also has resolved all the difficult problems with my scoot and I am a happy camper.
All of the high volume dealers in California have terrible records when it comes to service after the sale. Of course others are no better in other parts of the country. Rapid repair stands out among dealers as a reputable full service company. Jim can and does get it done and done right. It may cost you a couple bucks extra from Jim but believe me it will be worth it many times over
Rapid repair is in Wisconsin and I live in New Mexico so any dealer I found would need to drop ship to me. A dealer that was interested in my problems was of major importance.
Good luck on buying your new scoot but take a look at Ice Bear and Rapid Repair if you want the best.

Well, since no one uses an aftermarket air filter, I will try a couple parts dealer for advice!

Air filters

Thanks to rapidjim I am now the proud owner of a new Ice Bear Viking Trike. Had a bit of a time getting it going but it all worked out thanks to Jim's patience.
I have noticed that the air filter does not seem adequate for the conditions around my home in New Mexico. Needless to say we do have a little dust around here in the desert SW even on pavement.
What I would like is recommendations on a proper air filter to allow free breathing and still provide adequate protection. I have read about some racing filters, etc. but not being an old hand at scootering I would appreciate some input from experienced owners.
So far my only mods are adding a couple bags for "stuff" and additional tail lights and see me lights on the front, New Mexicans are noted for not seeing bicycles, scooters and such. Looking forward to getting it to smooth out a little. That one banger sure is a great massage machine.
Any help please!

What is a high performance fuel line? Is it larger? Is it the material and/or the manufacturing process?
