I have read all the posts about sliders/weights and have not found a match for my situation, sooo!
I am a bit heavy for a 150cc trike and my top speed is only about 47/48 mph and I think I am getting a lot of slippage when at wot. I am definitely getting a lot of slip when going up hill. My question is should I put in lighter weight sliders for better pull or heavier ones. What else would be a help to increase top end without any major overhauls (or a lot of money)?

Hey missed this one and Alley is the trike man! As always we got to know what's in there and go from there. Does the scooter have a tach? Helps a lot on fine tuning the CVT.
Several things that can be done but let's fing out what you have before we start buying anything.

Hi Belen, Good to have you on the forum. Which Trike do you have and how much do you weigh. There are a couple things you can do to get some more top end on it that do not require going into the motor. Also about how much are you willing to spend. So first thing you want to do is mark your Variator like the picature below and run it at WOT and tell us or better yet take a picture of the mark that is left. Then we can give you some poop and you can post questions on the suggestions and decide what you want to do. Alleyoop

My motor is still too new to run wot so that will need to wait. I am 240 lbs and the scoot is an Ice Bear viking that is a Ruckus knock off. 150 cc and I have about 100 miles on it. I had read the thread about marking the variator but have not tried it because it is still in break in. The manual wants 300 miles before running over 45 mph.
I do have a tach and take off is about 32 to 3500 and I can hear the rollers go into place. When I try to pull into a drive with a low curb it takes about 5K to get over the hump. If I have been riding for awhile it takes much too long to get it over the hump but I have not checked the tach under that condition. Today I also notice a rattling sound when accelerating. I will check it out more tomorrow because I also have a fender rattling and I need to fix that before I can find where the other noise is coming from.
Thank you all for the fast response!
Perhaps it is too early to do anything about it right now but it is worrisome and I would like to be able to do something as soon as possible.

Well shit your not that heavy, My brother-in law weighs 230 and he had the same TRIKE I do the 2009 PST150H which I still have. He hit a big pot hole and wrecked the front end on it and got rid of it. But the trike weighs in at 353 lbs and he was 230 and we used to crank them at 50mph. So your Ruckus I am sure is a little lighter and should crank to 50mph as well. And with some mods we can get it to 55mph.
But wait till you break it in some more before modding it and once you get some miles on it then you can check out how high the Belt is climbing and what rpms it is running at WIDE OPEN THROTTLE and we can work from there. Alleyoop

I think my trike weighs about 300 curb. If I could get it so it would cruise at about 45 without hurting the engine I would be a happy camper.
Jr, I do have a tach. The speedometer and tack are digital and seem to be fairly accurate gaging it on the starting rpm and the idling speed. Haven't checked the speedometer against the car but I will be doing that soon.
I plan to try the belt thing after a couple projects are done so I will be back in about a week. I feel better about it all ready. I was afraid I was going to have a problem getting it to cruise at 45.

You will not have a problem getting it to cruise at 45mph, now if said cruise at 55mph then you have to work to do. It should cruise very easly STOCK at 45mph. If it doesn't it will not take much to get it to 50mph and that way you can cruise at 45 and have a little left over. And you engine will not be screaming at high rpms(which you do not want).
So let us know when you are ready or already a happy camper either way keep us posted we will help in getting your Trike running good or any questions you may have. Alleyoop

Well, I did not make it back in a week, just too much going on. I did, I think find why my trike would not wind up like it should. The fuel pump went out and Jim at Rapid Repair went to bat for me with IB and I am the proud owner of a huge new fuel pump that "works". My speed and the smooth running of the engine is greatly improved. My take is that the engine was starved for fuel at higher speeds. I am close enough to road worthy that I took it up to 45 and it ran easy at the speed. I had run a fuel flow test early on but that was at 2K rpm and that was all good.
Right now I think my problem is solved, we will see when I get to the 300 mile mark and I take a long WOT run. If I can get past 50 mph I will be happy. The type of riding I will be doing makes 45 a respectable speed.
I do appreciate the input that you all gave me and I will sometime in the future take another look at improving the top end. Thanks again for all the help and thanks to Jim at Rapid Repair for his help.
