pull intake off look under neath there is a o ring make sure it is in good shape.

Make sure check the intake o ring mine when bad put a new one on fired up this is mine only problem is carb comes loose or intake blots work loose.

It sounds like you have no spark if you sprayed into carb and no fire, Check the end of plug wire that snaps in to plug they screw onto wire make sure you have a good connection at that point screw on real tight plug on and try again

The high speed jet is clogged tear it down use a fine wire and even low one then spray with carburetor cleaner see what happens.

make sure where axle bolt shaft goes in the speedo gear is in the locked location on wheel.

Check your ground wire sometimes you might even have two on the battery one heavy and one small gauge wire. If that's ok start looking for another place that a wire may have come off.

I'm thinking starter relay stuck closed and started keeps running.. While engine is running and starter still running it could be the extra sound he kept s hearing.

First are you using the kill switch or just the key? Try using kill switch after shut off turn key off if that works start pulling apart key switch and see if wires are touching each other or bad connection

I have 1 2013 white and 1 2015 red and another 2015 white to tell you the truth I usually start them for a couple minutes waiting for wife to come out to ride but buy that time never a problem. the red one has 7,500 mile never been touched as far as valves the 2013 5,600 mile never been touched either the last one is parade bike for my VFW ONLY 2,000 miles and yes never been touched. All that's been done is Asoil metric oil changes,

you may need to take apart adjuster free it up and lube it and adjustment then should work.
