one more thing came to mind,,,,when you pull the carb,,look into the intake manifold and see if one or both of the reeds has a crack or a chunk has broken off,,,this can cause a hard or no start situation

next time it dies pull over quick and open the fuel tank cap,,,if you hear air get sucked into the tank uou have a venting issue,,,drill a very small hole in the cap and you'll be good to go

If you can hang on to the coils hi tension wire as you crank it over ( is that what you just said?) and you feel the current you have a bad coil,,,if it's pulsing like its getting a signal and you don't get the livin sh!t shocked out of you the coil is bad

check the terminals to your battery and the plug connections to the injector and the ignition ,,,check the air filter,,,also I would pull the spark plug,,,,just change it,,,, make sure it's gapped correctly,,,my money is on a funky plug and/or air filter dirty

Check the fuel tank venting ,,,run it till it starts to act up then pull over quickly and crack the tank cap,,,if you hear air sucking in the venting may be partially blocked,,,or what you said the pump may have enough life at idle to fill the carb bowl then when riding under throttle it's not working well enough to "keep up"

i would be looking at the fuel filter and also the air filter for starters,,and also when you say it would barely move was the engine working good? and just no power transmitted to the wheel? if it's running good i'd say check the clutch for pad arms sticking or the pads are glazed ,,,just a couple muses
