Hi, guys! I need help. Desperate help! My problem is that when my scooter is not started for more that few days (5 or more) it doesn't wont to start any more. It had this problem even when it was new. Usually I had to kickstart it for app. 10-15 min to start and after that I could cut it off and it would start with a electric starter with no problem. When I want to start it after few days it starts for a second or two then it dies and I have to kick start it for long time as I have allready mentioned. This was a case for some time then this kick starting time got longer so I didn't want to do it any more. So I took spark plug out put some petrol directly to cilinder put a spark plug back and it started right away. This was again ok for some time but now even that won't help any more. I guess I have some sort of carb/petrol problem since spark on a plug is ok and plug is more or less dry when i take it out. There is a vaccum valve on petrol tank so carb should generate vaccum for a valve to let petrol out. When I test it manualy i works ok. I have checked carb and as much as i understand everything is ok. Float is moving ok, petrol comes to carb, jet is not clogged... So I really don't know what else could be wrong. Just to point out that once I get it started it works/starts perfectlly until I don't use it for a few days. Than everything repeats. Thanks for your help!

It sounds like you should really be sure that the jets are truly open all the way. take the main out and hold it up to the light and see if its truly clear. The ethanol blends leave this almost amber ring in the jets and are slowly choking them. You may be getting fuel just fine but it takes some gas to run thru that residue ring to soften and open it up a bit,....hence hard starts,..then once it finally runs it has opened that ring build up in the jet so it runs pretty good for the day. then if you leave it for a few days,...that residual ring in the jet hardens like varnish Use Seafoam in your gas every time to prevent this and keep the jets clean Oh and if your main jet needed cleaning,...clean the pilot too Good luck

JR Thanks for welcome, let me say that you manage a very nice forum! I have some 1500 miles on scooter it has a 50cc engine and It is very enjoyable to ride it around city and avoid all congestions. Haven't adjusted the valves since I am not an expert mecanic, I guess with proper manual I could do it. Had it in service with authorized garage twice, when it was still in warranty, but they also couldn't solve the problem. If it is in any any help this is a tag from my scooter :

This is a two stroker! You do put gas in one tank and oil in another right?

Hi, Yes it is a two stroker and I do put oil in a second tank. Otherwise this starting problem wouldn't be the only one. :

hey,,check the gap on the plug and do as suggested earlier pull the carb and check all the jets to make sure they are clear and also if theres an inline fuel filter change that as well

one more thing came to mind,,,,when you pull the carb,,look into the intake manifold and see if one or both of the reeds has a crack or a chunk has broken off,,,this can cause a hard or no start situation

Hi Guys! Thanks for all your answers it is a nice feeling to know that there are people ready to help. I have taken the carburetor out once again and paid special attention to all the nozzles, jets and openings, etc... It was full of petrol so when I tip it over approximately 50cc of petrol poured out of the vent opening. Took it apart and I must say that I have cleaned everything that I could find even found a piece of very thin wire and pushed it through all the nozzles and jets. I was sure that now it will work but I got pretty much disappointed yesterday, when after only 2 days, it did not want to start! So now I have changed tactics and took some petrol from tank and put it directly in to a carb through vacuum pipe. After that engine started immediately and it worked perfectly. Today my wife went to work with it and she said that it started with no problem in the morning and also in the afternoon when she went home. I am thinking… If there is petrol in float chamber and all the jets have been cleaned what else could be wrong so the petrol from a float chamber doesn’t come out and mixes with air? And when it finally does start this same reason is gone and everything is functioning as it should. This is a picture of a carburetor: One more question... What is a function of a "black" part with electrical contact? Is this a auto choke?

you physically transfering fuel to the carb thru a vent and it starts immediately says there is a problem with fuel delivery ,,,either the vacuum fuel tap is bad and not opening to deliver fuel to the carb or there is an obstruction in the line or the carb,,,,float could be stuck in the closed position not letting fuel into the bowl,,,,something is keeping the fuel from getting into the carb bowl
