Hello, I recently purchased a used 2005 tomos revival that had only 400 miles on it. For the most part it is in good shape tho it was stored outside for a bit and needs a few cosmetic fixes. First thing I did was take it to a local tomos dealer for a tuneup and such and it seemed to be running good but this past week as I was leaving work it started up fine but when I got to the end of the block it died and would not restart. I am not the most mechanically inclined person but I did check the fuel line and that seems to be fine. So today I took out the sparkplug (which was replaced during the tuneup) and it seemed fine but I tested the plug and got no spark. What are the next things I should check. Due to the way it died on me so suddenly I dont know if that points to any one thing more than another but I thought maybe that info might be important. Thanks Ed

Could you have maybe hit the kill switch on your handlebar?

I know its not the kill switch unless the switch itself has gone bad...

The coil is the same or part of the CDI switch ? If so I will probably have to order one as my local dealer doesnt carry a ton of parts but I will call him and check in the morning.

So it seems this happened all of a sudden, this indicates a poor connection in the wiring, could be the CDI itself or the coil.
I need the wire colors on the CDI listed so I can know if it's AC or DC or even a picture of them.

I wouldn't buy anything until we can do some checking on the wiring, going to have to get to the CDI and let us know the wire colors.

Coil will be at the other end of the spark plug wire,,,follow the wire from the plug and there's where your coil will be

The wires are red, white, black and brown. Just saw that this is a two stroke scooter, odd wiring. Wiring is this:
Brown = ground Red = AC feed to CDI/Coil White/Black = trigger coil feed wire to CDI/Coil
This scooter does not have a separate CDI and Coil but rather a unit with both. I'm guessing at what the red puts out on voltage but I'm sure it's got to be AC at 70 volts or more?

Aye, that sounds about right tho I am not positive...I do know it is a single unit for CDI/Coil.

That indeed is it. But considering it was running fine and then quit after a service job from the mechanic I'm still inclined to think a loose wire or bad connection of some sort? Could be the CDI/Coil but throwing parts at it isn't the answer?
We need to see if the unit is getting voltage and a trigger signal. I would go through the wires to the CDI/Coil and make sure all is connected well first.

I have checked the connections closest to the unit itself and they all seem to be tight. The only one i couldnt check real close is the black wire as it goes underneath some other stuff but will check that out tomorrow morning. It didnt feel loose when i wiggled it a bit but will check it out in the am. Is there a possibility it could be something with the kill switch?
