I use Ethanol Shield in the scoot, snow blower & generator. The scoot & generator have fuel in them year round. It was recommended to me by the mechanic at the place I bought my first scooter. This guy is no kid, been around a long time wrenching on motorcycle/scooter/snow blower/lawn mower engines so I took his advice. Occasionally I'll add a dash of Sea Foam to the mix. For winter I keep a battery tender jr on the trike & start it once a week, let it run for 15 minutes or so. Or if the roads are clear & it's not too cold out, take her for a short spin. So far, so good.

Excellent job Steve! Love to to something similar to mine someday, with two changes. 1) No ape hangers (I have a rotator cuff situation, that angle would be murder on my shoulder) 2) I'd have to keep the trunk as I use the trike for grocery shopping during the summer. Really like the sissy bar though! Tom

Alley, getting back to my axle for a moment, is it possible that the splatter was caused by me "overfilling" with grease and some seeped out because of that, sort of like a relief valve, & the seal is ok? I really pumped it in there. Thanks. Tom

Mine looked like yours when I bought it. I am making a few changes. Looks good! Is that a sissy bar? Can you post a larger pic(s)? Tom

Alley,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,yes that is grease splatter & grease around the rod. I filled the axle with grease when there was there was about 125 miles on the trike, have 250 now. Used this .harborfreight.com/sta-lube-moly-graph-lithium-grease-40712.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.harborfreight.com/sta-lube-moly-graph-lithium-grease-40712.htmlIs it possible to over-greased it? I mean, I really pumped it in. Cleaned everything up so will see if any more accumulates, but it will be next spring before I can ride enough to check it. Steve,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the grease fitting is on the other side of the axle, I just rotate the rear wheels until it faces up to get at it. Again, sorry for the hijack, I should have just started a new thread. Although it looks like you, Alley, and me are the only ones participating anyway. : = 0 Oh, and as you can see, my chain guard fell off. Was just riding 25mph down a residential street a couple months ago when it came off. Was able to retrieve it but not going to bother having it welded back on, it's easier to lube the chain with no guard.

Don't mean to hijack your thread Steve, but this seems to be a good time to ask my question. Bought my Viking trike last July, it's a 2012 model. Here is a pic of my axle: [img src=" smg.photobucket.com/user/tomcatmi/media/Trike/Axle11-9-13_zps24188f35.jpg.html" alt="" src="http:// " style="max-width:100%;"] It appears that I don't have the new and improved axle either. So far I haven't had a problem, but wouldn't you think, out of common courtesy, that Ice Bear would at least release a notification to owners of the potential problem, and a solution? Not saying they would even have to pay for it under warranty. Just let folks know how to correct the manufacturing screw-up themselves. If it wasn't for guys like Alley, how the hell would we be aware? Edit: Sorry for the goofy link to the pic,,,,,,,,,,,,,can't figure out how this board works as far as posting pics. Have no problem on several other sites.

Alley, the carb I bought is here: .scrappydogscooters.com/125_150cc_Performance.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.scrappydogscooters.com/125_150cc_Performance.htmlIf you scroll down to Performance 30mm CVK Carburetor you will see it. I've already adjusted the idle screw so that when the engine warms up it's at the right rpm. But no matter how low I set the idle screw (say 1000 rpm when warm, which is way too low) it doesn't affect the 3200 rpm warm-up. And at 3200 the trike barely starts to move. Perfect scenario would be if high idle was between 2500 & 2800 rpm but I can't see any way of adjusting the enricher itself. As always, thanks for your input and advise! Tom

ellpee,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I don't have a center stand on the trike. alley,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,at high idle I'm at 3200 rpm, then it settles down to 1600 to 1800 after a few minutes. 3200 is just about at the point where the clutch engages. I don't see any way of adjusting high idle. No revving involved. Thanks for your replies!

Is there an easy mod to have the starter NOT crank when the kill switch is deployed? That was a really nice feature to have.

This will be my first winter with a trike. With the scoot, I would start it up once a week during winter and let it run for 15 minutes or so. This was on the center stand, so the rear wheel would spin freely during the warm-up high idle. With the trike, is it a bad idea to have the brake(s) on during high idle (excessive wear on any components)? If so, guess I'll have to jack up the rear for winter storage.

Rode trike the other day for the first time wearing gloves (it's getting cold here in Michigan). Pulled into store parking lot & the trike just quits. Crank, crank, crank but no start. Checked plug/coil wire to see if had jarred loose, was secure. Figure I'm screwed, will have to walk home & make arrangements to trailer the trike home. Then I noticed it. The freakin' kill switch was in the off position! Must have hit it accidentally with gloved thumb when turning into the lot. So, fellow riders, just a heads-up when wearing gloves. Keep the big-ass glove thumb away from the kill switch. On my previous scoot (RH50) the engine wouldn't crank if the kill switch was in the off position. Should the trike work the same way? Or is it normal on Chinese scoots for the starter to be "live" even though the kill switch is deployed?

I used Lucas semi-synthetic. $8.99 a qt (which will last 800-1000 miles). See It Here

I bought a '13 RH50 July of last year, sold it this year when I bought the trike. It's a well-constructed scoot. When de-restricted it runs very strong and will do close to 50mph with no other modifications. Be sure to use a good-grade 2 stroke oil & it'll run forever.
