Thanks Alley... ouch. I hate that word broke... cause I am... and the scoot just hit 250 miles. I've taken the Chinese thing in stride.. Knowing what I was buying before buying. But my understanding was almost everything was due to connections and external stuff like wires, hoses... etc. And that the drive train was pretty sound. I guess this will be my first warranty claim if it is the hole that is broke. The hole is in the assembly plate correct? What is resale like on a 250 miled YY250T with a fresh PDI? This may be where I fold... Mt. Bike would be good for my heart anyway...

Oh no.... the plot thickens. I think I have become victim to the good ole clutch pad glazing.... I just started getting the "rail road track" shutter on take off.
I know glaze is not always the diagnosis with this symptom, but seem about 85% of the time that is the case.
I feel 100% certain it is my case.... Because.... Every morning 5am when it's about 35-45 degrees out, and I'm warming the scoot for travel to work. I have a smoke while watching the rear wheel slowly turn. This is about a 5min wait till gauge starts to read about 1/4.
Well in reading all the other thread, I began seeing this shutter issue... I had no clue the damage I was doing to myself. Not to mention the ginger take offs, trying to be easy on the brand new scoot.
Here's the problem... I set out to adjust the idle. After scoot is nice and warm at 1/2 gauge reading (where it has maxed to date) I began to reduce the idle till the wheel stopped its rotation. I turned her down to the point my instrument lights and headlight were strobing from such low ele. The back wheel slowed, but is still turning. I brought the idle back up to the point the lights didn't flicker and am requesting HELP?
Now I guess is where we get into the whole spring thing in the clutch. Is it too strong and is pushing with tiny RPM?
One last question.... I warm up on the center stand. If the wheel is stopped by being on the side stand, will the clutch pads still be doing their glazing or does everything come to a halt with clutch regard when the back wheel is stopped??? This is my only hope until I can scrap the funds together for an impact wrench.
I'm guessing spring is going to be the only absolute cure.. Cause even if I were successful in stopping the wheel with a good idle when hot, what happens when the auto enricher does it's thing... Is that going to throw my rpms up and start the wheel up, again.

Yeah... I believe all my instruments are off. Fuel for sure... gotta mess with the float. Speed for sure... checked it with the GPS.... Tach FOR SURE. Engine runs well. not even close to puttering out. And like I said it is up enough to turn the back wheel. I guess it's time to learn how to use a timing light on a scoot! I will get my photobucket set up here soon so i can post videos and pics. You have been assisting in "Jonway Died on Freeway" .... From the pics Lars posted, my airbox to tranny vent hose and 3 others are nothing like what his shows.... we both have YY250t's. Mine is an 11' his is a 12' Could they really be that dif. in configuration? My hoses seem to be of better quality too with stamping of specs, brand or whatever. Haven't got to reading them yet. But I would like to get your opinion on all the lines coming out of my airbox.

Wow.. the pros to the rescue again! Thank God for you guys! There would be a lot of parked scoots without your guidance! I have a question that may fit in this thread... Is there a way to double check your Tach readout? I believe mine to be way off. I seem to idle at 500 RPM and the wheel has a smooth slow revolution. Without actually hooking up another tach, is there a method of sort you can try? I guess the mulitmeter doesn't have the RPM setting I need... lol

P.S. Still cracking up..... Armageddon and holiday with a new year to follow.... hehe So there are years to come after Armageddon? Wise choice. Just in case it really does happen, you didn't waste the little precious time left messing with the scoot. Saw a great site that show the Mayan calendar actually ended last summer.... Aug. or so of 2011. Mayans didn't have leap years... lol But I bet they had scoots tucked away somewhere. That's how they crushed their Grain and such... Fill trunk half full of desired grain, idle for approx 1 hour, come back to fresh flour or whatever they made bread with.... LOL

LOL... that's how you can learn Spanish my friend...LMAO. Constant exposure... hehe. There is an S and an R to the very right on your "STEREO". Believe the S is search.. Just push in for a sec and then let go... it will find the next station. I wanna say the R is to RETURN to the previous station, but like you... I've just plugged my MP3 player in.
Well I went a bit deeper on the trunk. Found that the top only comes in contact with the bottom in 2 spots really.... not along the rim. Under the top at the 2 top corners (when open), you will see what looks like FINS. That is what rests on the bottom. The quick fix is take the fuzzy side of some velcro, cut to shape about the size of the fins and sicker on. Knocked out 90% of the drum line that was sitting behind me. Then, if you really want to address this. Use the hook side of the velcro and when you peel that back off, put thin piece of rubber (thin washer, slice of welcome mat from the front door) Even quieter. Well that didn't fix the latch party. So decided to totally remove the trunk a mount it much better. First, there are not rubber washers to isolate the vib thru the bolts. As a matter of fact, its metal to metal all the way up from the metal handgrab/load carrier on the scoot. To the rectangle mount between that and the trunk itself. and the bolt go through all 3 with nothing between them. Now I did have a rubber bar on the very bottom that the last nut went on. But that's after the fact. Vib is being transferred from the metal handgrab, straight up. I put rubber grommets in the trunk holes to isolate from the bolts. And rubber of some sort between all the layers. be it a washer or strip of thin rubber. Think of it as building a cheeseburger and putting all the cheese on top of the bottom bun and building the burger upward.... not good. The cheese is much better between each patty and up so it can melt down on the patty... LMAO With freshly diced Ghost pepper... Unbeatable! ouch!
It does need some water/weather proofing. And your right. Some type of weather stripping or foam like you mention would do the trick. I made my discoveries by first using the watch the closing of the trunk to the last slit i could still peer through. Eventually filled the trunk with an array of led flashlights. when closed and latched. You could see the light around 75% of the lip looking upward between the meeting of top and bottom.
Not sure how your mirrors are since we have the same exact scoot... but I did a great mod that solved that. You can see it under my silicone vs. silicone adhesive post toward the bottom of the thread.
I bought white 24" strips to go in front along the edge to the radiator cave. They are screamin bright, and with the angle of that edge, it may even light the road around my scoot. For others to see me, not so I can see. And red pods or "cluster of 4" to go in the back somewhere for extra visibility. I would like to add these in a fashion so that they will come on and go off with the ignition key vs. additional switch. I look forward to the responses.

P.S. I know the fuel system is going to require more TLC. The degradation of the fuel line from the inside is only going to be cured by replacing them. The float for gauge indication I already see is useless. LOL And Valve stems and lighting and sliders and, and. hehe I'm thinking to just velcro my Phone over the Speed-O on GPS app. LOL
I've checked it a few time at lower speeds (all I can do for now) and seems a bit off 5 mph in the 30-35 mph zone. Just wondering if the error will compound with speed or remain a constant in the calibration. The Vulcan was easy. Just 10% off no matter the speed. AT 30 is was 3 off and 80 was 8 off. Bizarre.

Nice Mod!!!! I'm breaking out my Dremel now. I've yet to reach the point of Valve adjusting... or anything really accept swapping fluids. It's still a baby... 157 miles since Thanks Giving weekend riding it every day to and from work, chores, etc.
But I have devoted major efforts to curing vibration. I am hoping that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Studying and studying this forum, seems 90% of issues are traced to something being loose, bad connection, hose not fully on, (your issue here) etc. etc. Gee.... wonder what causes that? And I wonder that about actual mechanical/Electrical failures... What % of those were caused by vibration.
I am obsessed with RC Helicopters and am on several forums just like this one devoted to them. Started with cars, moved to boats, then airplanes... But I had no clue what I was stepping into when I jumped to Heli's. I'm not talking the ones you see in the mall. I'm talking the ones that will KILL you or a bystander with any type of failure or pilot error.
My point is.... you would not believe how vibration is addressed with regards to failure. The mechanical servos that control the swash plate. To the electronics and the gyro. Basically, on spool up if your Vib free, your in for a pretty good flight. In hover you look at the landing gear among many other checks. If you see the landing gear or the tail with the slightest bit of movement, it is just when, not if, a link in the chain IS going to FAIL. With due care, you can go crash free for many, many flights. And save your wallet lots and lots of pain. One light crash could cost $50-$150 in parts. A full impact.. ugggg. could be up to a grand on some birds. So anyway, I believe it to be true that Vibration = Failure. The more you can eliminate, the better. I have done absurd mods already that have knocked out a LOT of vibs on the scoot. It seems so much more solid when warming up or just running. Before, I could't see my bar ends. They were just a blur. now, if you had ear-buds in listening to music and approached the scoot, Visually, you would not be able to tell it's running. Even with the trunk and glove box open. But that dang latch on the trunk has got to go. Talk about having it own little party like your hose clamp.. LOL
If we meet up one day, I will show you some of these mods. But Love your Valve adj. access port! Doing mine ASAP. Thanks for sharing that!
Alleyoop, I like that idea... It would be like the glass bottom boat tour...lol It would be nice to release a few retaining clips around the circumference and just pull the whole bucket out for access.

Correct Cactus and North on Cave Creek road to the dealer on the left...That's where I bought her. But as a Major cross street Ref. for people not so familiar with the area.... Trust me the added 1.5 mile extra to the precise pickup location was nothing compared to getting home south of South Mountain...Ray and the I-10.
This is the beauty of the scoot... is its about a 2 mile commute to just a bit north of Ikea....On Elliot and Harl. No time at all. But the once a month run all the way of to my Dr. on 101 and Tatum used to take me 30 min in the HOV lane, fracturing the speed limit just a little.

Good to hear about your I 17 experience. I must venture up to 101 and Tatum once a month. That would take forever on interior streets. When I bought it, had to get it home from 51 & Cactus taking interior streets because of break in... 2.5 hours.... This was at 5pm tho. Bout the worse time to drive anywhere huh.

Trailhead... That has got to be about the sweetest tail setup I've seen on these scoots. Is that a kit of some sort? where can i get one... I NEED that! Very Very nice!
Is that on one of the yy250t / MC 54 250 .... etc scoots? I can't tell for sure.

I've yet to ride on the freeway... that could prove to be a bad idea. There are quite a few variables... Surface area even. I could tell an enormous difference with the windshield on and off the vulcan. It is just a big "sail" in a way.... my gas mileage went up and not near the impact of passing huge trucks on two lane streets with the windshield removed. Shifting never bothered me cause it's all i knew. Just really enjoying not having to shift now. I don't see that a CVT trans. could ever take on a real transmission I call it....of equal cc's. but hopefully the slider mod will help when I'm past the break in.

For sure Richard... I love tinkering and such... My RC Heli addiction kept that satisfied until now. I'm sure my neighbors have to double check at night.... "Is that guy trying to steal that bike" I'm out there with my LED headlight on my head.... messing with everything from mirror vibration dampening to the trunk that sounds like a marching bands drum line.. got all these things fixed over the couple weeks I've had it. And yes.. the room is Awesome. I had two pretty good sized hard bags on my Vulcan. I could fit 3-1 gallon milk/water jugs on each side. and an 18 pack of brew fit perfect in the hard bags. But would still find myself stuffing items in my jacket or backpack when shopping. The scoot fits everything.... with under the seat, glove box, and mega trunk, I can do all my grocery's for the week without double trips. LOVE IT! Another neighbor came out as i was fiddling to check it out.... He had a big burgman and told me stories of its power and reliability. I'm scared to go really check one out or I will be selling everything I own to get one. That's my vote.... Big Scooter Lar's

I'm approaching from the opposite direction. I have lived on motorcycles since my teens. Dirt bikes.. to sport bikes then cruisers. This is my very first scoot. My most recent bike was a Kawasaki 1600 Vulcan I owned since new. With a recent major ele. system failure and approaching 60k in miles. I opted for the brand new yy250t. the cost was the same as fixing the Kawi... With it approaching rebuild time... etc. Figured it was a sound decision. What I love about the scoot is the cost of ownership... Gas, Insurance, maintenance.... And no shifting. Stop and go traffic, like with a stick shift car can get brutal. Even the metered entrance ramps to the freeway.
The stopping power on the scoot coming from a big bike and even remember on my R1 sport bike is mind blowing. This thing stops on a dime. That is a big concern in the motorcycle world is getting the things stopped in bad situations. Like coming up on everyone locked up on the highway because of an accident ahead or something in the road. I've had to swing to the service lane or even between lanes cause I just didn't have the stopping power without locking the wheels. BAD BAD on a big heavy bike.
Front could slide out and you bite the pavement, or back could and does fishtail out and if you let go of the locked up brake, it will swing back in line of travel and buck you right off the bike.
Also scoot is real agile. It takes a lot of real estate to turn the bike and if you pull in to a parking space sloped downward, even a bit, it is like power lifting at the gym to back out all that weight with your feet. You learn quick to back into those spots so you can drive out of the slope.
I am certain when I am financially sound again. I will pursue a large scooter vs. a motorcycle again. or even a car. I drool at the thoughts of a 600-650cc Burgman or high end scoot. I do miss the incredible acceleration of the 1600 but hear the 600 scoots will smoke most any cruiser. I knew from the start Chinese vs. Japanese was going to take some TLC to get it solid. But my wallet dictated my only option that could be taken on the Freeways legally.
Weight is a key factor. You won't get tossed around by the passing semi or dump truck. And road surface won't have the same influence on your line of travel. As you are well aware of our road conditions in the valley of the sun.. the pavement topography resembles water more than pavement. Like at the intersections... OMG... the surface looks more like my pool after some just did a canon ball than a path for vehicles .
Dude, how can you see to type. I made the same mistake using a pepper of some sort.... Ghost makes Habinaro look like a bell pepper... LOL Try milk... it works in the mouth... why not the eye... LMAO.
