Ernie you have a switch on that access door just like I do.. out of curiosity, what is yours for?
I have my diode replaced with a relay. My switch controls the lights/rad fan so when I start the scooter, it's not fighting against those units for power.
BTW.. love the looks of the rubber.. I'm going to do 100% the exact same thing.

Sorry folks. I've been absent for a while. The switch is for the electric enricher circuit. Off cuts the power to the enricher so the motor will idle up until the temp gauge says normal op temp. I flip the switch to On and 12 volts is restored and the plunger drops, allowing the motor to idle smoothly.
