50cc Sunny 2011 scooter has no power when the ignition is turned on. Checked battery 12.7 volts. Checked fuse and it's good. Checked main ground and its ok. We're should I go next?

Pull a panel or two and see if you have power to the ignition switch and out after you turn the key on

inca32 My next step would be to make sure you are getting power to the key switch. Take the front off and make sure the key switch is plugged in good, connections can come loose especially the plugs. also when you say the fuse is good you mean it is for sure passing 12Vdc and this is just not a visible inspection. Fuses sometimes can look good and actually be bad. J

I have 7.9 volts at the ignition switch, switch on, red and black wires. Turn signals have a weak flashing light when turned on. Were should I go next.

I would check battery connection sounds like wires aren't getting full voltage or very poor ground.

i'm calling a bad ground on this one,,,please check the battery terminal lug and the actual battery to frame cable bolt,,,i'd pull it off the frame and either lightly sand or fine wire brush the cable and frame,,,

12.7 volts at back of ignition switch with key in off position, turn key to on and it drops to 7.9'or so. Took all green wire connectors off and cleaned each wire and the frame mount as well as the batter terminals with wire wheel on my dermal, so I know that green wires are grounded to the frame. The green and red wires at the rectifier harnes have 12.7 volts with ignition off but drops to 6.8 or so. Is their a way to to take a wire and jump the ignition switch? If the voltage drops when turned to on position does that mean the switch is bad?

It could be a bad switch not passing voltage properly or a almost grounded out wire when you turn the key on that's sucking the voltage down? Unplug the key switch and see if you have 12.7Vdc on the red wire to the key switch from the battery then take a little jumper and jump the red to the black and then see if the lights dim and if the voltage drops, if not then it's a bad key switch, if the voltage does drop then the search continues.

I jumped the red and black wires and the turn signal lights are dim and the instrument cluster lights are flickering without moving any wires. Press the starter button and the starter selinoid does not click, It has 12.7 volts until you turn the key on and then it drops to 6.9 volts. Does the rectifier have any thing to do with when the engine is not running?

Nope and I just noticed something that I should have caught, the lights as in headlights aren't supposed to come on unless the scooter is running, if your lights come on with the key on you've either changed them, someone else did or you've got a wire crossed causing the issues, here is the Sunny 50cc manual with a wiring diagram. Extremely rare for a 50cc scooter to have lights come on with the key turned on: .wep.co.nz/wep/member-images/229/file/Sunny50Handbook.pdf" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.wep.co.nz/wep/member-images/229/file/Sunny50Handbook.pdfPage 24 confirms this, when you turn the key on only the fuel gauge should move and no lights at all. If you have lights come on when turning the key on you have something wrong. JR

Headlight is disconnected because shielding is removed so it does not come on. What I was referring to was turn signals, instrument lights and rear lights. They are dim then almost go out if brake lever is pulled. Checked the ohms on the small red (fused) wire to the ignition switch 00.1or 0.00. Green wire from frame mount to ignition 00.2 or 0.00. What's frustrating is the green wires are all grounded and so is the engine and frame. But something limits the voltage 12.7/13.0 low to lower. The starter selinoid is 12.7 as well as the wire from it to starter terminal but sometimes with the starter but pressed it gives low groan and the instrument lights go dim.
With the key on the ignition switch, the red and green terminals 12.2 volts.and the battery drops to 7.9 volts, turn key off and it goes back 12.7. That's probably why the lights dim an start groans if even makes noise,

By the way, I bought this scooter new in 2012, it has had the best of care by me, I have done all the maintenance and a couple of repairs last year (starter motor, rectifier, carburator, battery It has never been in the rain or had any modifications. It has 8200 kilometers on it. This problem came out of the blue.

Ok thanks for that info and I do understand that things like the blinker, fuel gauge and even the brake lights work long with the horn when you turn the key on. So when you say tail lights are you saying tail lights that are on all the time just like the headlights or are you talking about the brake lights dim along with the blinkers?
The diagram shows that the tail lights also will only be on when the engine is running not when the key is on?
Question have you had this battery checked? Some batteries will fail immediately with a load on them but show good voltage with no load.

Sounds more like a battery with a dead cell.
