Hi..JR... my scooter has a charging probem. I replaced the R/R and still no charge. Pulled the Blocking Diode and I get no voltage either way. I guess it is shorted out. Where can I get a new diode? Thanks...

My headlights are on all the time since I installed the HID kit several yrs back. They have worked fine for a very long time. Thanks....

I found the part on Ebay... it is a voltage regulator...go fiqure. That is what I am having a problem with. The R/R is working, so we will try this. Not sure where the blocking diode is.

Something else to consider, once you actually FIND the blocking diode, is replacing it with a simple $10 relay from AutoZone or somewhere. The price you pay is lights on as soon as you turn on the key, but you say you already have that anyway. I did it myself, and if ellpee can do it, anybody can do it. Upside: no arcane electronics, key on = power flows. Even still have a PDF file on how to do it, if I can figure out how to attach it.
Nope, I can't, but as I recall it just popped up on a google search.

Where is the blocking diode...I have not found it, I guess. A picture of the diode would be nice. Thanks...

JR.. thanks for your help.... I believe that I have tracked it down. I changed the R/R and then I pulled the blocking diode (voltage regulator). This is what I removed and have ordered the same part to reinstall. I may be confused...oh well...

bhinch If you changed the R/R you did indeed change the regulator, R/R = Rectifier/Regulator. The blocking diode is not a regulator. JR

It may be the blocking diode but it is called a voltage regulator for a description. It fits numerous ATV's and scooters. The scooter has been a good friend for 7 yrs and over 11,000 miles. Thanks for your help.

I jumped the blocking diode connector and got 13.5 charge rate on the battery. I have a volt meter installed in the dash on the scooter. So just waiting for the replacement to arrive. Don't understand why I did not do that at the get go and could have saved on a new R/R. I am learning.

Received the new blocking diode and still no charge. I checked the three yellow wires and got the same AC voltage from them. Jump the connector on the blocking diode and I get 13.6 showing on the volt meter, hook back up and I get battery voltage. I must have something else wrong or not working. I also reinstalled the original R/R and got the 13 + volts on the volt meter. So I presume that the original R/R is working properly, just not charging the battery. Will continue to trouble shoot the system.

Let me get this straight: -- original R/R --> new diode --> battery and you show 13 + v on dashboard voltmeter. Correct? If so, then everything in this circuit must be working as it should, from the stator all the way to your voltmeter. -- "jump the connector on the blocking diode and I get 13,6v" don't understand this part. If you really mean the connector ON the diode, to jump it you'd have to disconnect it from the R/R, ja? The diode doesn't produce any juice in its own right, so on either of the two connector blades seems to me you should get nada. What am I missing here?

ok...I get nada on the volt meter 11.5 volts....battery voltage ...with the new blocking diode installed no tail light. Unplug diode.....jump diode connector with a jumper and I get 13+ volts and tail light. Totally buttoned up...no charge...battery voltage...no tail light with new blocking diode. Not sure what is going on. I did not ride the scoot for few months (I retired) and got it out and put a few miles on it and the volt meter showed no charge. Normally it will show 13.2 volts when charging and running down the road. I get headlights when I turn the key.. HID install a few years ago and have worked great. With the scoot buttoned up I get turn signals, no tail light but brake light. When I jump the white/red blocking diode connector, I get everything working. Very puzzled....

Scooter not running...key off...diode connector jumpered...I have tail light. nothing else...so that would kill the battery..
