Linhai 260 No Spark. New Stator, CDI. Coil By ultima (Read 3,690 times)

I bought a Basket case 260 for $100.00. Started checking it out and has no spark. Tried a coil first. Pulled the cover off and the stator looked fried, Burned and crispy wires. So I replaced it. While ordering parts I figured I would order a New CDI just in case the stator fried it too. Well STILL no spark.

At this point what the heck is left. That should be everything right? To nice a scooter to toss it away, especially since I now have a few bucks in it.

Any thoughts or ideas I can check. There is a 4 wire THING? that is flat looking about an inch wide and 2 inches long that I have no idea what is it. But it is in the harness near the stator wires?

Could be several things so I'll ask this, do you have a volt meter and know how to use it? We will need to see if you have voltage to the CDI which in this case should be a DC type CDI.

I need wire colors on the CDI. I'll need a picture posted of this 4-wire thing along with their colors. Yes for $100 we need to get this bargain scooter going!

check your kick stand switch it could be bad. It could short out inside the switch itself and not fire with the stand up or down. Happened to me on my Linhai 300. Just take it off and strip about 1inch to expose the wires then twist the wires together to bypass it. Worked for me. I just left it off and bypassed.

I forgot one other thing, Change all your fuses both in the main fuse box and on the solenoid if you have not already done so.

Thanks will check out these ideas today and see what happens. I'll also check for voltage at the CDI. 12 VDC

Remember if it turns out to be your kickstand switch you will have to remember to put the kickstand up before you ride. Good luck to you. For the money you paid for the scoot you can put a few bucks in it and have a blast. Those Linhai 260 and 300 motors are strong and quick.

Just a thought, could be something as simple as a bad plug WIRE or BOOT. (In addition, of course, to the other obvious problems you've already addressed.)

I'm hoping it is something simple but once you get things ironed out and start riding it will be well worth the effort. I bought mine for 890.00 and had to do what you are doing as it would not fire consistently and it drove me crazy. It was the dang kickstand switch all along. It was a simple fix that took trial and error to discover. Ive got 9000 miles on mine now and Ive had a hiccup or 2 along the way but I have had a blast riding it.

Well I just took my $100.00 well $200.00 scooter out for a ride! These are pretty quick scooters wow. I changed several things today and the last thing was the stupid kick stand switch. So not 100% sure what it was. But it fired up and purrrs like a kitten. Now I just need to find a windshield for it as this one is broken. Any ideas please let me know...
