For a 150 with the high looking handle bars I would think it would be fine? but the question really is how heavy and where do you ride? Flat street riding or hilly terrain?

Hi JR. In my area of Ohio the topography is flat and flatter. I'm 6-3, 323LBS. Complete noob to scooters, in my 50s. I've bought 2 cheap used neglected Chinese scooters that have been wonderful in providing me learning lessons in maintenance and repair. As I prepare to get my permit I think it would be wise to have a new low price model I can carefully PDI myself. Don't want to be stranded with one of the used 150cc's a dozen miles from home, don't want to spend $$$ on a Vespa or Honda to find out I no longer have the chutzpah I had in my youth when I rode a Moto Morini cafe Sport on the streets.

Sir with your weight and height I would consider a good 250 Chinese or Taiwanese scooter? The extra ponies will serve you well and allow you a better option for all terrain IMO>

Thank you JR. I have been looking for a mid-80's Honda Elite 250 in a specific color and condition. Sold a SUNL 150 I fixed up. It really was too small for me, awkward and difficult to pilot because of size.

Thank you cyborg. I thought I was good to go with a used Kymco 200 on Clist. Caller #1 but seller tried to get cute with having all interested parties arrive at the same time so he could flame a bidding war. "asking price" is not an eBay auction to me so I just let it go. Back to sifting through the overpriced used online LOL!

I'll tell you tho i personally would go with a used Sym or Kymco,,i was actually looking at them and a new leftover Genuine Stella presented itself and i grabbed it,,,but i'm 6ft flat 190-200 lbs so it works for me,,,i think a Sym 300i would be perfect for you,,,plenty of stink to get you in trouble,,,if you want it

Thanks for the mention of the 300i, I've not heard of that model before. Sym and Kymco seem to be well respected names, I've noticed on forums. A scooter forum (owner?) recommended a Bet & Win as a good pick. The only one I found was already sold, such is Craigslist. Sooner or later my ship will come in. I've contemplated buying a used Van to tote my eventual purchase because U-Haul gets pricey quick. Used vans, even with 6 cylinders, seem to get miserable MPG. aaargh! Maybe I'll start looking at pick-up trucks. Thanks again for your reply
