Same thing I posted on Another Site.
Does anybody know what the PPR (Pulses Per Revolution) is for the IB 300 Magnum? I'm putting a Tach on and it asks for it also whether it is ..5, 1.0 or 2. and is it constant or does it change and at what RPM if it changes. I had to put 2.0 to get idle right i wasn't idleing at 3200 RPM lol. but with that setting it maxes out at top speed at around 4000 RPM's dont sound right but if it's a constant 2.0 PPR then I have a Problem in getting proper RPMS might be why i max out on a flat road WOT at about 59MPH.....
OH well The Beat Goes ON and ON and ON.

Welcome to the forum parsonsj11. I'm not a trike man but I do blieve this is the linhai so I'll ask around and see what we can come up with. Now I can't remember what Alleys 150 was before all his changes but we have to remember that the gearing and chain drive change the equation on trikes some but again I'll hit the road and see what I can come up with.
But 4k at 59mph would be real sweet!

Thanks JR.
Ya 59 at 4000 is ok but 75 at 6800 would be nicer lol
I think it down to the engine sparks at TDC ignition and TDC exhaust so would be 2 PPR. I have it set for 2 and my idle shows about 1400 and the clutch engages while on stand at 1800-2000 like it should. but it maxes at about 4000. so either the PPR is changing to 1 at some RPM (some do) or I have a problem limiting RPM's..
The Specs are
Maximum Power (kw/r/min):14/6500(1±6%) Maximum Torque (N.m./rpm):21/5500(1±6%)
I am sure we will get it resolved shortly, Many nice people on this board and others have been a great help so far ..

Well right now with the changes on mine, I hit 60mph at 6000 rpms, 50mph at 5100rpms. The highest rpms I have gotten out of it so far after the BBK is 6800-6900, with a Prodigy Variator and 12g Dr Pulley Sliders. I have not gotten 7000 or over on it. Alleyoop

hi alley
ya but the specs are quite different for the 150's and the 300's
150
Maximum Power (kw/r/min):6.2/7500 Maximum Torque (N.m./rpm):8.2/6500
300
Maximum Power (kw/r/min):14/6500(1±6%) Maximum Torque (N.m./rpm):21/5500(1±6%)
still trending towards a performance- non-restricted cdi and power coil for it i hope jim or the IB Member might chime in with more info on the PPR.
At least its running now, Have had it since Feb and just getting to ride it. Lotsa Problems.......

Parson I got to thinking about this the setting is either 1PPR or 2PPR I do believe and if it is 2PPR then IMO it means that it responds to the pulse on the intake and exhaust strokes as most scooter engines I know fire on both strokes.
But that also would possibly mean 1PPR because the CDI recieves it's signal or pulse every revolution of the flywheel again on the exhaust and intake strokes of the engine.
But your responses on the 2PPR is reasonable and the scooter may need some fine tuning to acheive what you want?
Have you tried it on 1PPR?

The cdi fires the coil one time per revolution. Just think about the stator and pickup. The Flywheel has a rotating magnet, it passes the pickup once every revolution.

OK getting confusing.. I beleive on tach the revolution is referring to a power revolution ( Combustion to combustion) I did set on 1 and then it shows I am Idling at 3400RPM and the Clutch engages at 4000 on Stands... If so Really BROKEN there lol. If set on 2 then Idle is 1200 and Clutch engages at 1800-2000 Sounds right.. on 1 WOT @59mph is about 7500 RPM on 2 it about 4000. Can't be right both ways............

You are right when you say it can't be both ways. Most tachs that I ever hooked up that had a switch setting asked for cylinder count. Your question referred to pulses per revolution which would be 1 pulse per revolution of the crankshaft , plug firing from compression stroke to compression stroke would be 2. This is because it takes 2 full revolutions to go between compression strokes. IE: there are 2 top dead centers, compression and exhaust. Due to one magnet in the flywheel, the pickup will fire twice from compression to compression.

Ya thanks Jim this is a trail tech computer does it all digital Speedo, Tach, Odometer, Trips Clock Times, Engine Temp, Does it all and made for Cycles. I think the 2 PPR is right setting and that I have something else causing low Rpm's. I know its going to be lower cause I put 255x50x12 tires on the rear but it's like it just runs out of oomph before it should. thinking pull Carb and check for partial blockages, maybe bigger main jet new performance no limiter CDI and POWER coil w/ iridum plug maybe change fuel pump out to higher capacity too ....
it reminds me of driving a car and not getin right power and finding a kids toy under the gas pedal (been there done that LOL)

One other thing you should look at is YOUR roller weights if they are TO heavy that will Lower your rpms by 500-600 for every gram up or down. Actually Mark your Variator and see high high your Belt is going up the Variator. Alleyoop
