I am new here and I have been trying to ride my husbands Suzuki Boulevard and I do ok until I get to turns. I can do the big ones but short quick ones I am having issues with. I found on line that some motorcycles are automatic and then I found the scooters. I think I will feel a little better with this one. I am 56 yrs old and have had a hip and knee replacement. I don't want to hurt myself anymore than I have on his bike. I got into the gravel and thought I better drive on the grass and when I did, it was wet and down it went and I ended up rolling. Nice bruise on my leg and sore arm. :-(
My husband bought a Harley Cruiser as we had a little girl with special needs we adopted and he wanted to be able to get her on a bike and the Boulevard wouldn't work. She is loving it. In the mean time, I am staying home. I am not comfortable riding the big bike. No problems going straight was rather fun, didn't slow down enough when I got to the turn went to far out hit the gravel then the grass. I was done at that point. I am hoping and praying I will be able to ride this with no clutch and shifting gears.
Picked up the scooter last night, my husband drove it home. He sure looked rather funny on it after seeing him on his Harley. He really felt that the scooter would help me. If not I will sell it and be done.
Hope to find others here who can help with questions I may have. Thanks for your time. I am from Missouri. paula

Welcome! I have a Honda Reflex from which the Jonway was cloned and I love it. Had a yy250T before the Honda. You will find the Jonway much easier to ride.

Welcome , good to have you on the forum. The scoots are easier to ride and not as heavy as a motorcycle. It appears you just need some practice on making turns, just slow down as you would if you where making a turn with a car and you will be fine. Alleyoop

OK so yesterday I rode the scooter for the 1st time . My husband and son rode their Harley's behind me. We went into town and had lunch and then we headed home. It wasn't so bad. I was nervous of course. Only problem I really had was my sunglasses was trying to move up my face when I was going 60 on the highway. Think I will try one of those straps you put on the ear pieces and maybe they will hold them on better. Oh yeah I forgot to turn my turn signal off right away, I completely forgot about it until I had gone into town. Hubby told me later and I said yeah I got to remember that someone might think I am turning when I am not. paula

I suggest a good helmet with a face shield to solve the glasses problem and add a lot of safety.

I think your right. I will be looking for one. It is what my husband wears, I didn't know how hard it would be to wear. Hubby has a couple of 1/2 helmets. I will see what I can find for me. Thank you. paula

Congrats and best of luck on your new ride. I've noticed that Jonway is a popular model that gets mention on forums. That's great you having the chutzpah to try, try again after going down and having a knee situation, I salute your courage. Have you considered checking the division of motor vehicle web site for your state to see if they offer a driver training safety course? I think i'm going to go that route myself. I haven't ridden on two wheels in a very long time and I want to get my 'sea legs' before I buy a scooter. Best of luck to you and your husband with your little girl. Enjoy!
