Hi everyone! long time! Nearly 2 yrs. ago I twice dumped my Tank Classic 50. There were lot's of scratches, and a few good cracks on 4 pieces of same color body panels. I got lazy, fixed it up best I could. Went on riding, not a care. Then Erin told me to clean it up, have it fixed, or buy a new one. Like an idiot, I decided to replace body parts. I had resolve!! After an 18 month search,( U.S., China, and U.K.) I finally figured out I couldn't replace what I couldn't find. Tank was out of business, and no spare body parts were to be found. Worse, I had my heart set on changing colors from blue to black. I finally found a wholesaler that had in stock body parts for TNG scooters that appear to be identical. Since they are a wholesaler, they were off limits to me, no ifs ands or buts! In Minneapolis, there are very few scooter dealers, fewer yet who would help me. Then I found a shop that has a really, very nice and engaging parts manager named Megan who just so happened to have some dealings with MRP wholesalers. The black parts are on the way. Only thing left was the front mudguard 2 part that I could not find, other than red or blue. My old one is blue & the other parts are black.I decided to repair and repaint myself. I started by washing in hot, soapy water to get the dirt off. I stopped to do an hourlong iphone face talk with Erin, who is in Istanbul right now. I got a guided tour of the Bascilica Cistern, which I missed when I was there. Really, really cool BTW. I got back to the mudguard in the sink and put a scrub brush to the dirt on it. To my total shock and amazement, the original paint began peeling off in huge chunks, assisted with a small kitchen knife. Bare plastic underneath, without a drop of primer!!! God love the so called lazy, drunken chinese factory workers!! Now, tell me what is the best type glue to use? Gorilla Glue just chipped right off. Epoxy? Too messy, I thought. Any ideas?? Local stores are at a loss, the internet says to use a welding type glue that actually melts the plastic together. I can't find anything like that. Any suggestions? ?? The story is to let you others know not to give up the search, and improvise or think outside the box during your search for the rare parts. Sorry, it was so long. Thanks for listening!! Bruce
