I'm finally trying to get my magnum running like I wish it to be. I have problems climbing hills here in central Pa. It would slow down terribly up hill and wouldn't downshift till about 30MPH. I changed contra spring in clutch to a red 2k and now it downshifts at about 43MPH. I have some 12G sliders coming to replace the 13G's that are now in it. I also have what appears to be a side to side shudder in the handlebars at speed. does anybody have an easy way to check if the rear wheels are in alignment with the forward motion? I tried using the longest straightedge I have a 4 foot metal level but it only reaches midway with it against outside of rear tires and not sure where to measure into the side of the trike .... I think the 12G sliders will get the hill climbing speed stabilized since the red contra helped some.....

tvnacman.blogspot.com/12 g sliders will bring your rpm up . It should help with the hills . can you post a picture of your cdi plugged in showing the wire color and position in the plug ? John

I measure mine from 1 point on the outside of the axle on each side to each side of the bottom cross bar right by where the Center stand would have been, 1/4+ difference is a problem, less than 1/4 of an inch off is fine.
Yes for climbing hills you need the motor to keep the rpms up making power all the way otherwise it will crawl up the hill not enough power to pull the weight and it gets worse the longer the hill is. Alleyoop

thanks for the replies..... John. I'll try to get pic of cdi plugged in... I have a performance cdi I want to try too but will have to make a Harness for it also the plugs are different..... Alley.. That's what I figured.. just tuning on the balance of springs and sliders... all those cars lined up behind me scares me sometimes and I feel bad about slowing them down.. LOL there is a pipe frame that goes up on each side about at that point could I measure to that pipe on each side? I did that and I think I had like a 3/8" difference between left and right side.. Not many posts on people doing tuning on these trikes on the boards that I have been able to find.. got some info from the 2 wheel forums and just applied what was similar between the two.....

Yes measure up to that pipe probably the same one I measure up to As far as tuning they are all the same 2 wheels 3 wheels or 4 wheels, the only difference is how many they roll on Alleyoop

One thing you didn't mention that you definitely want to check. There are damper rods for the front steering column, kind of like the little shock absorbers you would see on a hatchback car, and when I got my Magnum I discovered after about 50 miles that one of them was completely unattached -- the bolt had fallen completely off and the rod was just dangling there. I discovered the loose rod by accident when opening the gas tank door -- it's visible there -- and the place where it connects at the front is accessible from underneath, so installing a nut was no big deal. I don't know where they fasten in the back, though.

Might be, mine's a late 2012 and I'm told they did a lot of design tweaking. Perhaps RapidJim will chime in and clarify that, he's "Mr Ice Bear" around here.
