Yea it could be the wrist pin, crank or something in the CVT. So lets first check the cvt, take the cover off start it and then put the sound pickup by the variator and then the clutch to see where it is banging IF IT BANGS with the cover off. If it doesn't bang with the cover off then something is off in the CVT and hitting the cover hopefully.
If it is not the cvt then you can take the Variaror off and belt and start it that will tell you if its in the motor.

You will have to take the clutch off and check the pads and springs it may be that a clutch part broke off and the spring and or part is flopping around. If the clutch is ok then it is in the tranny a bad bearing or a bad gear. Alleyoop

well I pulled of the clutch & it looks good to me,the pads are about 3/16" of a inch thick....When I spin the back wheel with the clutch off I get a little resistance at one point, then it spins fine until I hit that spot again....this is my wifes scoot & she had a habit of giving gas while applying the brake & I would tell her it's not good for the bike...She always would gun it alittle when starting it....If it's the transmission, where can I get the parts if needed??

All the springs are still on the clutch...To my eyes it looks good....Should the shaft that the clutch goes on have a coat of grease on it?

Bearings are no problem if that is the case, that you can order from many places here in the states, all you need is the number on the bearing or bearings. I do believe that the honda 250 tranny may be the same for the gear stuff. I know one guy the shaft broke and he got a honda shaft. Alleyoop
