A good friend of mine has a Jonway that we had to change the water pump in. It was still under parts warranty so the dealer sent a water pump kit. To install that we had to remove the crankcase which was an ordeal due to the fact that we waited forever for the dealer to send us a new crankcase gasket. In the end we got it put back together and tried to crank it up. It only clicks. It will not turn over at all. There is a little switch right next to the battery that is doing the clicking. Any ideas from anyone? Not sure where to even start. Is there anything that could have come unplugged inside the crankcase?

Sound like the starter solenoid relay, or could you post picture of whats a side battery that is clicking?

Yup, solenoid is clicking, meaning power is getting that far. It's supposed to flow out the other side of the solenoid down to the starter motor. If the starter isn't cranking, my first suspicion would be that the ground from the starter is bad -- loose, broken, whatever. OR, the starter is misaligned in some way that is preventing it from cranking. Which I can imagine, if you were removing and reinstalling the water pump and crankcase. Others may have additional ideas, but I'd be looking closely at the starter motor first. (I should think you could check the starter motor by jumping it directly from a battery, positive to one side and the other side back to negative, but I don't know how hard it is to get at.)

So you guys led me right to it. There is a ground wire that is not connected. We took this apart a month ago so I'm not sure where to connect it. Can I connect it to any of the bolts holding the crankcase?

Got it fixed. Thanks guys! I knew it was something simple just couldn't put my finger on it. When I leave a project for about a month, it's hard to remember everything especially being a novice.
