I have a 2007 JCL MP 250A with the linhai 257 engine.. Runs excellent.. The temp guage comes up to 1/2 way mark and fan cycles normally and temp guage will drop just a little when fan is on and then just repeat normally.. Never runs hot and never looses and antifreeze however when it is warm at normal temp, the antifreeze in the radiato cap area is never hot. Has always been this way. When warm and idling with cap off the antifreeze will rise to top of filler an when fan kicks on it goes down to near bottom of filler but never shows as tho it is circulating.. Have been riding it for 6 years this way.. Anyone out there have the same thing or should I be looking for a problem.. Air in cooling system?? Or since it never runs hot etc should I just leave well enough alone. I do 100% my own work so not afraid to mess with it if necessary.. Looking for suggestions from you experts out there.. Just got it out of winter storage today and every thing works perfectly. Thanks Barnie

Hi Barnie, My scooter is the 257 linhai engine also and my temp gauge does about the same, never took notice about circulation, do know that reservoir up front take the antifreeze from radiator and it works it way back and forth as the temp goes up, as far as I know that's the circulation.

Sounds perfect to me, don't fix it if it's not broken. Ride and enjoy Alleyoop

Richard and Alley.. Thanks for your input on coolant.. I didn't think I had a problem but was after a 2nd opinion. It's made it 12000 miles this way so I am going to just leave well enough as is. Thanks a lot. Barnie

My Aelous 300 does about the same. It will get to just above the halfway mark then the fan cycles on and drops the needle to below the halfway mark. There is no evidence of overheating. My thermostat opens up at just about the same time the fan kicks on. I think each scooter has its own characteristics. As long as the fan cycles properly and cools the engine then I think all is fine. That is the main thing.

could try a stethoscope an put it up to the radiator should hear it flowing ,they make the mechanic kind to for a lot of uses on engines

I have the exact same scooter. The only circulation I've seen is from the small line coming in the back behind the radiator cap. That goes to the top middle of the radiator. It does flow a little but not much. As Alleyoop said, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. I've had some issues with mine overheating from time to time. If yours doesn't overheat than everything is running as it should. Trust me, if something's not working right, you will know it. If the slightest air is in the system, the fan won't kick on. As long as the fan comes on, you are golden. Happy riding!
