Took my Roketa in recently and had a new Kenda put on the rear. Have put on a couple hundred miles since then, all good, but this morning as I was rolling the scooter into the garage (motor off) to do an oil change, I heard a slight grating sound coming from the rear axle area. Not continuous, just occurred at a certain point in each revolution of the rear wheel. Put it up on the center stand and turned the wheel by hand, heard it again, but after running the motor a bit to warm up the oil, didn't hear it any more. Not sure if it's a problem or not, and also not sure if it has anything to do with the tire installation or just coincidence that it happened shortly after that.
FWIW, gear oil was changed at 1000, just passing 4000 now, hadn't planned to check gear oil again until 5000, at which time I'd also planned to check variator/belt/clutch pads.
Anyone have thoughts on what this might be? I did check all the bolts I could see that would have been involved in the tire change, and they are all good and tight. VERY slight wiggle to the brake caliper, but no loose bolts as far as I can determine, and the brakes work as well as they ever did.

sounds like it could have been the many things you mentioned an if it stoped I would not worry about it just keep an ear listening to ,some times break pads can rub a little ,the hub ,I would not worry about it

It could have simply been the brake pad rubbing a spot on the brake disk--and next check the rear hub oil--if it is low it might cause a noise until the bearing picks up some lubrication...good luck

That is what I think as well, check and make sure the brake was aligned and bolts are tight. Alleyoop

Will do, no obvious problem with the brakes but still wondering about gear oil. As I said, I changed it at 1000 and was not planning to look again until 5000 (and each 5000 thereafter). Is that too optimistic? Should I be checking/changing it more often? (No obvious oil leakage anywhere in the rear axle area.)

No way to tell about the tranny oil unless when you change it, it is not honey color and looks dark. If so then you need to change it more often. It is a splash system and the only thing that will degrade it is the heat the tranny generates. Alleyoop

Zoomed around a bit today, no obvious problems. Will keep eye ear peeled for further symptoms.
