I just changed the antifreeze in my scoot. I burped it as per the instructions given here on this forum. Before I changed it the temp gauge would reach above the middle range before the fan would turn on and lower it to just below middle range. After the coolant change the same results happened. I have read that as long as the fan cycles on and off all is o.k. My fan works as it should. Here is my question. What is the correct temperature range on this scoot and what is the possibility of a erratic temp sensor. I assume that as long as the scooter don't overheat it should be fine. Should I be concerned with the gauge?. At what temp does the fan cycle on?. The scooter is running just fine and shows no sign of overheating. Thanks folks.

Here is what JR said about the temps: Alleyoop
Thermostat
Nominal temp. designation....165 deg F Begins opening......................157-163 deg F Fully open...............................176 deg F
Fan Thermo-switch
Starts to close (continuity)....... 208-216 deg F Starts to open (no continuity).. 196-210 deg F

Thanks alleyoop. I guess a thermometer is in order to check the operating ranges. What of the Gauge?. Does the range I described seem o.k.?.
Thanks.

I have the MC-54-250B roketa scooter my fan kicks on when temp gauge reads a little above 1/4. Never had trouble with high temps (thank God)

I found out this much. My thermostat opens up at almost the same time that my fan kicks on for the first time. When this happens my temp gauge is between half way and three quarters. This is consistent behavior. The fan then cycles and lowers the temp gauge to just below half way. This process repeats itself consistently. There is no evidence of boiling over or overheating that I can tell. Is this normal?. My other aelous 300 parts bike showed very little movement in the gauge even as the fan was cycling on and off. Maybe a erratic temp gauge problem i am having. What does it sound like to you folks?. Thanks.

The main thing is that the fan kicks on to keep the engine from getting too hot, perhaps that's normal for your model.

Could be. I suppose different temp gauges read differently. The fan cycles normally. As you say that is the most important thing. I will continue to watch it. In the mean time it is time to ride. I'm loving it.

FWIW, on my 2011 Roketa, Honda-clone variant, the fan kicks on right about at the halfway mark. Very consistent, never seen the gauge more than a needle-width over half. Of course I don't ride much in the worst of the Tucson heat, life's too short.

Sounds just about what mine does. I ride as often as possible, Summer, Winter, It don't make much difference to me. My temp range is very consistent. I checked my coolant level yesterday. I add about 1 or 2 ounces to top it off. I am now confident that this is just a characteristic of my bike in particular. Got a slight vacuum leak I got to track down. Other than that it is cruising beautifully.
