Any thoughts on this model? I still have my Roketa 250 B, but looking at the Kymco 500 has my attention. Found this one for sale for $5999.00. Kymco

Wait? Did I see this right? A Honda dealer selling Kymcos? Nice scooter Speedracer but quite a bit heavier than you're used to on the 250B? But it'll be smooth as ice and should have a good warranty. Might shop around in the surrounding areas on a price comparison? JR

Yes a Honda dealer selling Kymco. You are right as I didn't notice it weighed about 470 pounds. Not sure what the 250 weighs.
I still have my Roketa 54b and it now has 15,100 miles on it and starts every time. I only adjusted the valves at 5,000 miles and have never touched them since. It doesn't stall, starts on the first try so I see no need to touch the valves. It's on it's 3rd rear tire, but only second front tire. Brakes work great and it has not overheated. Right now it's only simple maintenance. So my 2008 model is still going. I don't even know if they ever improved them as when I look at the models which say 2013 they all seem to be the same as my 2008.
I heard the 500 Kymco rides nice and is very stable and safe. How are you doing with both your 54b"s?

New antifreeze from the start, new RR, new carb, all new hoses and vacuum hoses, new sliders, new belt after 10,000 miles, new clutch, and a new battery. Plug every 5,000 miles. I think that's all I did to it.

yes that sounds good for me ,I got the new valve stems did the anti freez ,going to do gear oil I may just check it ,couse they did that in pdi,I got the upgraded adjustable carb ,I got to admit my hoses seem fine for now ,upgrade battery an look to put some lower wattage bulbs in there ,an upgrade the stereo ,will see how the rr holds up ,I plan on getting road side incase of break downs ,was thinking about loosening the plug as there so tight an I am sure that heating the motor the plug would be harder to get out ,thanks

As far as your plug goes they sell at auto parts stores a greeze you put on the threads so they won't seize. Oh yea I put all LED lights in signals and brakes.

Speed, I was able to test ride a 500i back in November at the AIM Expo in Orlando. Kymco had 8-10 scoots of various displacements, all the way up to 700. Nice. You could test ride any of them on an open road, 5 mile or so, escorted ride. Real good opportunity for anyone visiting Orlando in November. My only complaint was the seating position. I am 5'10'', with a 35 inch inseam, and the seating arrangement forces your knees more upright than your 250B. My knees were only an inch or two from the dash panel. A tidy bit uncomfortable on longer excursions I would think. If you prefer the more feet-forward position of the 250B, then consider a Burgman or Silverwing. Otherwise, it was a very nice scoot, by far better than the Chinese we are used to. Top speed for the 500 is a bit over 90mph. Here is a good writeup Top speed did for the 500i. Kymco Xciting 500i

They also make all the BMW scooters as well as several other manufacturers.
