No not all are the same, some are better of better quality but it depends on whose name is on it. You have to realize some of your brand scoots are made in CHINA and or the PARTS for them .Economics my man very cheap labor. But what makes the difference are the Chinese factory they choose to built the parts and or scoot. They tell them the quality they expect and want and materials they want it to be used to build the part and or scoot. Even your Vespa and well known brands get contracted out to china.
But the real cheap ones that you see for $599, $699, $799 etc.. are you run of the mill scoots and they are pretty much all the same. Alleyoop

I have read where the Taiwan scooters are much better then the Chinese ones. Are there any other Taiwan scooter manufacturers? I will do a search tonight. Thanks all for the input and please keep it coming. Jeff

Puma and Wolf are both Znen scooters and are sold by dealers. The Lance Havana, Cali Classic and PCH are made by SYM and sold by dealers. The secret to a good Chinese scooter is basically how well all the niggling little faults are squeezed out of them before they hit the road. That has to be done by a dealer or you depending if it was bought online or from a brick and mortar store. Also a realistic appraisal of how it will be used is paramount. If you need a scooter that has to run flat out all day buy a used Japanese scooter off Craigslist. The Yamaha Vino 125 has been around for years and sometimes can be found in your price range.

Thanks all for the input. Working on them is not a problem since I have been riding and working including but not limited to machine work for 44 plus years. I even have a small machine shop in my basement. Thanks Jeff
