Have you replaced the brake fluid on either of the brakes. The Chinese brake fluid like the other oils they use are sometimes something to wonder about. We have a how to bleed/replace the brake fluid in the tech section. I had a 150 with a very hard brake and replacing the fluid with a quality synthetic brake fluid softened it up and made it a lot better to use. Caution: Don't get any air in it or the brakes will be what we call spungy. :# JR

We did replace it when I first got it. But it was a DOT 3/4. Not a straight DOT 4. It was hard to find the DOT 4 in the auto stores. But I'll go find some and try that.
Thank you

Following this thread with interest. I haven't changed the fluid on either of my scoots yet, but what research I've done says the difference between 3 and 4 is boiling point -- 3 boils sooner than 4, so 4 is better (and more expensive). Also a 5 out there, but mostly for race cars and the like, probably costs a dollar a drop. Am I understanding from this thread that there is a DOT3/4 option out there?

Yes, I believe I got it from Auto Zone. They had 3/4 and 3 in the store. I think 4 was only online so I got the 3/4 cause I was anxious to get out and ride...lol

Well, my simple logic tells me that DOT3 is probably fine for the brake system of typical scooters, 2-3 discs stopping well under 1000 lb from speeds generally below 70 mph. Unless, of course, one rides the dickens out of them and puts a huge load on the brakes. Might have a different opinion about a Gold Wing or a humongous Harley.

OK, good to know. I called BMS and they said I may need to bleed the brake. So we'll see what happens.
