Well, just to make certain,I am posting a new thread on the spark plug I found yesterday,a D8EA,which my local parts place says will work ok instead of the DR8EA we use now--they said we don't need the 'R' plug unless we put it in a car or truck--anybody try it yet? Its the first time I have seen it myself--fflintstone

Parts guy is technically correct. The resistor is usually 5kohm and its purpose is to reduce noise in electronic equipment, such as radios and engine control modules. The D8EA would work, but may get a whine if you use your stereo often.

Thanks wheezy,I just might try it--it is only 2.75 so it would only be costly in labor--mine--and richard thescooter, where did you find the DR7EA--I'm not sure my local parts will have it--they don't have the DR8EA,thats why they showed the D8EA---thanks for the response ,guys, happy trails, fflintstone

I either got it at Carquest or the Yamaha Shop.

I also use the 7 too flintstone, the number is the heat of the plug. I find it starts better in cold weather. (o)

I too have settled for D8EA instead of DR8EA (before I went to the DR8EIX Iridium to see if it makes any difference). As far as my simple, non-technical mind can grasp, the "R" is only about possible radio interference, so unless you have your scoot tricked out with all kinds of sound stuff it shouldn't matter much. The 7 versus 8, on the other hand, makes a definite difference in heat range that may be good or bad depending on your climate, etc.

Thanks JR richard, wheezy, lots of options--I like the idea of starting better in colder weather--might try to find the DR7EA and run it awhile--happy trails, all is good, fflintstone
