What is the dividing line between scooters and maxi scooters?
Is it displacement, size, or combo of both?

They play games with a name but all a Maxi scooter is your larger displacement scoots 250CC+.

Well,alleyopp is right ,everyone likes to play with a name,so if you want a clear dividing line,just go get on your little 50 cc scoot and putt putt around for awhile and then go get on your Mc 54 250 B Maxi Scooter and cram the throttle wide open--(WOT)and you will immediately see a clear dividing line--lol-- ( personal experience)Have a good ride,safe ride,and tell us about it--fflintstone ;D

yeah, 250cc up is considered a Maxiscoot...
i dunno why people buy 150ccs??? for me if you are unsatisfied with 50cc, then get a 250 right away.
