Recently I've notice my oil levels dropping, had to put oil in today, no leaks, (just changed oil) checked air filter (good) Where is the oil going, my exhaust isn't smoking Attachments:

Others will give you better advice, but basically there are only three possibilities: on the ground, out the tailpipe, or into the cooling system. The first and last would likely have something to do with bad gaskets; the tailpipe option could be that, or a problem with valves or rings. The ultimate Omygawd scenario would be a cracked head or cylinder or block, but in that case surely you'd see other significant symptoms.
I had a cracked cylinder head once on a CAR, and found milky-foamy stuff floating on top of the antifreeze when I opened the radiator cap.
Hope that is at least a little bit useful; as I said, the real gurus will surely chime in shortly with better, more specific info and advice.

My scoot seems to be running great, I am over 15,000 miles I know its not leak on the bottom (bolts tight) sometimes I get a little in the air filter, but that's normal. Oil looks good too, so not sure where to go from here

Richard, take radiator cap off and start the engine and let run till it gets warm and circulates coolant. see if its milky. MY JCL 250 with linhai 257 engine uses a little oil but not to the point that is leaves any traces. Barnie

DX If it's milky You got problems. How bad depends on which engine. Good luck Dave

Drove to my mother's house in Holidaysburg today ;D had no problems it is a 70-80 mile trip, when I got home I check my oil, according to the dipstick I did use any I'm going to keep an eye on it. I didn't take the radiator cap off yet, did look at the over flow, everything in there look good Attachments:

It could just be that when you check the oil it is not on level ground, if it is a little tilted toward the front it will show little less oil, if tilted to the rear it will show more oil on the dipstick. Also they may burn a little oil that you cannot really see from the tailpipe, it may say burn a little when you first crank on it with a load and you would not see that. Unless you have to put say more than 2 ozs I would not worry about it. Alleyoop

Thanks Alleyoop, I'm still going keep my eye on it, scoots running great, finally got the intake manifold tight and its not coming loose, on the other hand the back intake connected to my air box still working loose, I think the trouble is that on the back of the carb there is very little for the clamp to hold on to, if I could come up with some sort of an extension so there would be more to clamp to, that would fix it.

Richard, if you rode 80 miles and oil is still full and your antifreeze looks good when warm and circulating ur more than likely ok, (I would feel ok about it). Like I said my JCL MP250a with the linhai 257 engine uses a little oil but its just a little bitty engine and we really expect a lot from it so I figure if it uses a little oil it's ok with me. I got lots of miles on this thing and I try to take extreme care of it and it runs and looks better than it did 5 yrs ago when it was new. I would buy another in a heartbeat. Like Alley said, watch it and ride it. Barnie ;D
