First ride on my new Genuine Buddy 170i. Took delivery on Tuesday and finally got time to ride it yesterday. My general impression is that I made the right choice for me. It is well balanced, faster than expected(hit 60 for about a quarter mile and that at 3/4 throttle) and then brought it back to break in speeds. It has plenty of leg room, I am 6'1", which surprised me. 10" wheels are not touchy, holds the road well in winds and bumps, it has a 168.5 CC engine, fuel injected, should give 85-90 mpg. excellent brakes, and is made in Taiwan. Has an oil cooler and auto type oil filter. Now I have 3 Taiwanese scoots that I think are as good as the Japanese and Italian rigs. Now on to Byrson City, the Dragon, and other rides this summer.

Thank you, Hank. That is the scoot. Gonna call it Buddy since that has been my family nick name for 77 years. I have added a top box in black and a windshield. It has good storage under the seat and if I need to carry a lot of stuff somewhere i always have the Del150 or the hack. Thanks, Richard. this will probably be my last scoot, got the stable where I want it now(where have I heard that before??)

I might get it broken in IF it ever stops raining , Dragonsparks. Have added saddlebags since my last post. The 170i has been reported to hit 67 mph by GPS testing. From what I am seeing, 55-60 mph will be fast enough for me. :#

Some day I need to learn how to do pix. Perhaps this summer. D8 Not a bad price on the sidecar. Mine is a Cozy that I bought from Vesta Marietta paid 22 for mine. I had a friend who is a good designer make a special plate to mount it to the R9i. Some said it could not be done but he proved them wrong. You drive a hack, not ride it. Tire wear on sidecar and rear tire of scoot will be more than you might expect and top speed is reduced also.
