Hi, i bout this 1967 yamaha U5E, its very cool. and runs! the guy i bought it from says it has 37 original miles, the speedo says 370 but the 0 is white, he said the white is decimal, is that true? also every now and then it will cut in and out, almost like im reving it but I am not, (however i am holding down throttle some) is this due to the battery? i noticed it kind of goes away when i charge it more. Does anyone know where i can get a service manual? or a wiring diagram at least? is there anything i should know about these scooter? its like a tank compared to the newer ones Ive owned. thanks a lot!

Here she is, I have the white plastics and covers for cdi, they just arent on it. oil was waterlogged, i replaced and flushed it and that seems to help, the clutch is working better. shes a bit outa shape now, but new pant some body work and a ton of cleaning, and itll be real nice Attachments:

and heres the speedo, to show miles. I bypassed the oil injection(ive never trusted them, and this is the first year they came out with them. so better safe than sorry on this old of a scooter) will that ruin the injector? or will i be able to put oil in it again and itll work? thanks Attachments:

The speedo is correct, it is 39.7 miles. I had a 71 Yamaha twin 90 with the oil injection, never had a once of trouble with it, if it isn't broke don't fix it.

Thank you all. I hope it lasts a long time. i dont have blinkers or mirrors for it. also is it normal for it to bog down in third gear? id assume it is but want to check if you know anything about these. still havent found a wiring diagram online

Most likely the reason it bogs on third gear is the RPMS are not high enough to pull the taller gears. So notice about how fast your going when you go to 3rd gear and maybe wait till the speed go up before changing to 3rd gear. Just like a car with a manual change to a higher gear to early you have no power. Alleyoop

What's going on everybody?. I have a 67 Newport u5e and have been struggling with fuel leaks at the petcock valve, and the carb floods VERY easy. I have rebuilt the carb three times now, and everything from the float to the small needle it pushes on to stop fuel from filling the reservoir all seem to be in great shape. I have all new hoses, clamps and gaskets. WHAT ELSE COULD BE HAPPENING here. The scoot has under 600 original miles and is in Mint condition. it was a one owner, and the guy owned a motor cycle shop and just used it to put around. I am REALLY wanting to ride it so any and all help is greatly appreciated.
also I changed the oil and just guesstimated on the capacity, does anyone know a definite oil level for this 50cc??
