So, my 06 sunl gy6150 is being stupid. I broke the exhaust studs so i rigged it up til last week then me and my chick replaced the head. I tried to reuse the vc gasket. I tightedeverything back up, adjusted valves to .004 & she started right up. no hesitation what so ever. she rode perfect. i went downtown for work and back 20miles. i went to leave again and i noticed it was leaking oil bad. so i made a new gasket for the intake and vc. let it set and she started right up. i rode a block( it was bogging out past half throttle) and it turned off. pushed it home and let it sit. it would not dtart. checked for spark, notta. changed plug and still notta. ordered new ign. coil. I didnt touch the bike for 3 days. i gotthe new coil and installed. bamn started right up. same deal. a block and she dies. ipush back and check spark again. notta. i waited 20 mins. tried to start and she did. so i immed turned it off and pulled the wires from the ign coil. i checked voltage and the coil was getting 20+V. i plugged it back in and she started. this time i didnt ride it . i pust put it on the center stand and revved it up real good. sure enough....... i letoff the gas andshe dies. i cheved voltage at the ign xoil again and it got 6v. i let it sit for an hour and she starts again. WHATS GOING ON!?!?!?!?!?! i adjusted a/f screw and throttle and oil level is spot on. batt is fresh charged. tried different plugs. 2 diff cdi's. and now 3 diff coils.
things that may be important.
1 month ago i lost my low beams. 1st the left then the right I upgraded to a 11 pole stator and 3 phase rectifier and brand new harness. ( has never been issue) I crashed 1 month ago but only bad enough to break the mirror. she got up and kept riding.

Why is it so important that the motor be grounded to the fan cover? The place where it grounds on the fan cove is cracked. its still grounded there and held by the little metal sleeve that is inside the fan cover screw hole on the left side of the fan cover. I ill post photo when i can. can i ground that else where?

Better place to ground it is to one of the bolts on the Valve cover. If the motor is not grounded good you will loose spark. Alleyoop

Okay. I found that the 3 yellow wires coming from the 11 pole stator (on the harness side) were all melted together. I cut the connector off and repaired the wires (no connector just soldered them all together 1 at a time to make sure i didnt mix them up). I checked EVERY connection and EVERY switch. I could not find any other bad wires. The bike still will not start and there is NO voltage going to the coil. There is about 2-4V off of each yellow stator wire. This reading is with the starter turning the flywheel w/ a full charged battery. not the engine turning it. does that make a diff? Also, I still have no low beams. (not asking for suggestions on the light issue just mentioning it incase its important)..... I ordered a new 11 pole stator just in case. Yall think mine is fried??

Sure sound like it is fried the yellow wires should be putting out quite a bit of juice. Did you happen to go through a lot of water and the stator got soaked it may have burned up some of the poles.
But I am not an electrical guru but JR, TV and Cruiser are the JUICE guys. I am sure they will chime in and have you test it correctly. Alleyoop

Cool. I think your right. some poles are fried . either water or just running with it shorted like that. it would explain the steady decline in performance. I wish i would have taken pics. it was melted so bad that the wire coating and connector plastic were 1 lol. i bet one shorted killing the left low beam then another killing the right low beam (happened a week later) and then the bogging and dying and now notta.

side note - the 11pole stator connector (alot of prob already know) has 3 yellow and 1 green. the green was a0ok. only the yellows melted.
