Already have a light out on my Roketa 250, the small light next to and slightly above the headlight on the left side. Might be burned out, might just be loose. Please tell me I don't have to pull off any plastic to get at it .... And when I do get at it, am I gonna find a reasonably normal AutoZone-type bulb, or some bizarre Chinese bulb?

you might be able to reach upby the forks to it and the bulb should be easy to find

When I changed my running lights all I did was remove the front plastic piece that in front of windshield, removed windshield, and the black piece right in from of the speedometer cover, then you should be able to get you hand in there to change bulbs.

OK, thanks; I'll try to get my hand up in there from below first; if I can't, the windshield thing isn't too awful.
Later ... no biggie, socket had just vibrated loose and was dangling under the front cowling, bulb still OK. Tight fit, a little tricky twisting it tightly back into place, but all better now. Just broke 800 miles, guess at 1000 I'll change oil again and re-check all the screws and bolts.
Have to say, on mine those little bulbs don't look all that bright, but that's in daylight; never checked any of the lights at night.
