Good day to all. I'm new to scooters and have one that seems to be ok. I hit some Ice today and laid it over, whiskey throttle! Controlled it and hit nothing. As I got home after 1.4 miles It bogged down and died as I got to parking space. Strong smell of fuel. Noted no dripping but as I tried to start it it was giving signs of being flooded. I let it sit and as I went back out after 15 min I noted fuel on pavement. I opened door to carb and noted a small hose cut at 45 deg angle I assume is from carb drain tube.Over flow? anyway it was dripping so I clamped it with hemostats and pulled the cover off the breather box, filter soaked at far side with a wet streak along bottom of box to lowest point. I assume that since the fuel tank was full I created a flow of fuel through the overflow tube and it some how ended up flooding carb via the breather box as the overflow tube might come out near the breather intake? I will see if it starts and since I'm R&R the fuel and vac tubing I will post an update the marrow.

Well I went back this PM to take a look and it started but I have fuel entering the breather box from the carb side. What the heck? Can anyone give me a hint? PS the fuel tubing on these things is SOFT! I will R&R ASAP! I tried to clamp it off and trashed the line from the fuel tank! Lol

Sounds like you've got a stuck carb needle and Welcome to the forum. Fuel in the filter region is generally a dead giveaway of this. Could have happened when you laid it over. Time to pull the carb and check out the needle. Yes the hose you mentioned is the overflow hose and gas dripping is happening because the float needle is stuck in the open position. JR

It could also be due to the bang the Float FUEL STOP PLUNGER came out of the FUEL INLET and fuel just keeps on flowing into the carb bowl. Alleyoop

thank you I will look into the Float FUEL STOP PLUNGER and can you direct me to what I need to do for easy fix on that and the stuck carb needle? Here are pictures of the Needle so take the carb off and with your finger push up on the cylinder and release it should drop down do that several times it should move very freely with no binding. Here also is what you will find when you take the Carb Bowl cover off. The plunger is behind the TAB, as the float rises when gas comes in it pushs the PLUNGER into the hole to shut off the fuel from coming in. To test if it is shutting off the inlet, Hold the carb sideways the tab part of the float straight up VERTICAL, get a piece of hose and attach it to the FUEL INLET NIPPLE and blow into the hose then GENTLY push the FLOAT and see if it shuts the AIR THAT YOUR BLOWING INTO the Hose stops coming out.

If it is your CRANK OIL SEAL IS SHOT or has worked itself out. You will have to take the VARIATOR out and most liklet have to get a new Crank OIL SEAL. If the oil is coming from the BACK by the CLUTCH then your TRANNY OIL is leaking out you will have to take the Clutch off and find out if it is the seal or the PLATE IS LOOSE. The plate has about 7 bolts DO NOT CRANK ON to check if they are loose, just nice and snuge if you crank on them you will strip them. If the black hose is coming off the VALVE COVER near the TOP that is your VALVE COVER VENT Hose, just put a fuel filter on the end and tie it up high on the frame. If you have an AIR BOX over the CVT that is where it would have attached to by the front of the Airbox. Your choice what to do with it but if you tie it up to the frame you need to cover the connector where it attached to on the airbox. For the starting problem make sure you have a ground wire from the motor to the frame. Alleyoop This is the Crankshaft OIl Seal behind the Variator:

Thank you both! You saved me a bundle, and it was an easy fix as well. The sport shop wanted 50$ just to diagnose it and 110$ an hour to fix. Min one hour each! I had not the confidence but once I pulled the carb it was easy. I'm going to upgrade the carb this summer and rebuild the original for practice, and keep as spare. I look forward to doing this in the future! Thank you again.

Well I replaced the fuel line, and well, I remembered something someone told years ago, I used a closet dowel and tapped it ever so gingerly twice right on the top, shook the bike and bounced the rear end off the ground a few times. Put the key in and it fired right up NO Fuel problems at all. I have since put another 100 miles on it. I know I got lucky and would not have tried it except it only had 100 miles on it when the problem started. If I thought I was dealing with a gummed up mess I would not have tried it.

It appears the float was stuck and by bouncing it around it freed it up. Alleyoop

It also wouldn't hurt to put Seafoam or some carb cleaner in the gas tank. It will clean up any varnish or crud on the float needle and prevent future issues.
