the last week my bike has been backfiring and popping like crazy at low and hi r PM's. ,I have adjusted the air fuel screw every which way I can think possible a quarter turn at a time in and out and nothing. Wonder what else it could be? Exhaust is good and tight.

it gets worse every time I ride. when I'm at a dead stop and I give it gas the scooter doesn't even go it feels like the transmission is slipping unless I buy baby the RPM's and just give it the minimal amount of gas. Then it will go smooth. But otherwise it feels like whatever is spinning the wheel is not connecting if that makes sense. I'm really not sure how else to describe it. oh yes the most important part, when my girlfriend who weighs around 200 pounds is on the back of the bike it has no problems it rides does not backfire and the engine slipping at takeoff problem is not there.

Check you Exhaust connection the FLANGE to the motor. You may have lost a stud or nut and is leaking bad. It may have blown out the gasket. Putting weight on the back probably is causeing a littleshift of the motor and putting more pressure on the muffler and pipe and making a better seal that is probably why it runs better then. Then i did a plug chop and realized i didnt have the NGK in, put it in and no more backfire

Terrilee.. That is the first time I have heard of a plug causing backfire but I believe you. I like NGK plugs too but I really suspect it was not the brand but perhaps a defective plug or not tight or something. Strange but engines are always doing somnething a little strange.
Good to see you are still at it.
