Vespa even though they now have the Chinese touch as in parts still do make a very, very pretty scooter!

My problem with any Italian bike or scooter is in both the initial cost and maintenance. Now that Honda has the PCX 150 there's a scooter that not only undercuts the Vespa 150 by $1000 and is much faster. A PCX can do both types of roads, interstate and local, and it's reliability is unquestioned. Look at the 300cc versions of Vespas-$6000 to start!!! Honda just introduced a 500cc bike for $5500, not to mention the 300 Ninja for $5000. Yes I know the Kymco 300 is $5500 but I still think that's nuts too.
As for their motorcycles, wonderful to look at, beautiful to hear but look at their price. A comparable sized Japanese motorcycle is $5000 less and will last a lifetime. Don't get me started on parts and service for Italian bikes.

I read somewhere that the Vespa 946 is going to priced around 10 grand. Dont hold me to that, could just be scuttlebutt!!!! Cant say that I like the seat. I will stick with the Taiwanese scoots for quality at a reasonable price.

Hello my name is JC and I am trying to rewire the CDI on my 1986 Yamaha Big Wheel using a Honda CDI. Both bikes have an a/c cdi. The cost for yamaha cdi is 300 plus and i have extra honda cdi units that are good . I went accross a thread of you helping some person in thailand rewiring an 80cc cdi and printed the pic of cdi with description of wires and their function. Do you think this should work meaning will honda cdi work on yamaha in regards to the voltage the magnetos put out and the signals from the pick up coil. Im familiar with electrical/electronics. Have 4 years plus of electronics but to save me some time I would rather ask for some tips/ADVISE
THANKS FOR ANY ADVISE

JC start a new thread on this cycle. The Yamaha Big Wheel is a dual purpose dirt bike which was produced from 1985 to 1989. It consisted of three different model lines; the BW80, BW200 and BW350. I need to know which model and also do you have any manual for it especially with the wiring diagram in it? Also I need to know what year, make and model the of the Honda CDI's are for? By knowing this I may can cross reference them to see. May need you to take pictures of the CDI on the big wheel and Honda CDI's. Also Yamaha and Honda should have OEM part numbers on the CDI? With this info I can see if we can make them work? JR
