happy new year to all...been off the scooter boards a while as i was weighted down with my other obsession 98-2003 jaguars xj8....just purchased an 02...long wheel base....pretty near mint...
the 2012 year did not end very well though...i lost a very close friend on dec/23.....had recently turned 60......and i am still in a state of shock.....as i was on the phone with him just 3 days prior...lived about an hour away...so did not see him often...but we chated at least 2-3 times a week....as you get older you begin to realize...its all about loss....and there is not very much you do about it......robo...

Glad to see ya Robo! Sorry to hear about your friend and I hope things will getter better as the new year comes about. Even though we all know we have a time and season it still doesn't make it any easier to lose a valued friend.
Hang in there and glad you're back.

yes....justbuggin....many will say this......and there are a lot of mis-conceptions....about these cars...thats why i focus on particular years and models (xjs and xjr...roughly 1998-2003...i have three cats and never had an electrical problem.....
when ford took them over...cars improved dramatically...differents trans/power plant and got rid of lucas electricals...to which i think you are referring....
they are not much different than our more recent maxi-scooters...with ecu(s)....that can fail and are difficult to fault fine on......nor are internals always of the highest quality and may need change out..... i.e.......cam chain tensioners...part plastic...just like my jags.....bottom line owning even a efi-maxi---with ecu and all....can be just as expensive to repair as a jag...
