I would say on the average we got 16" here at my house. In this picture it's 12" deep But I have some little trees with wire gaurds around them that are 18" high and only 1 to 2" of the wire at the top is showing so that's at least 16". You can barely see the wire guard in this picturte: No rehab on the foot today, clinic closed to weather and over 190k people in Arkansas out of power. I got my generator all ready and gassed up yesterday in thoughts of no power myself. It's a big unit and since I converted my home to natural gas it's stout enough to run the whole house with plenty of power. But it's gone and sunshine now! Going to drop to 15F by Saturday night and if the snow melts myself and the kids will be covering my strawberries with the pile of straw I have saved. We have possible freezing rain and bad weather coming again this weekend. So you're favorite weather is heading your way my good friend MC and others east of Arkieland. But it is sure pretty! JR

JR, you don't know how right you are! (this time) Buffalo & Rochester are getting 12-18 inches but I'm only suppose to get 8-12 here starting later this afternoon and ending... who knows when. Winter is just starting. "I would say on the average we got 16" here at my house." Don't forget JR, snow compacts as it gets deeper so you may have more than you think. And you deserve every inch of it. ;D "No rehab on the foot today, clinic closed to weather" The BIG difference is we Yankees just move it aside and get on with life. We don't close down and whine about it. So put on your snow bunny suit, go outside and make some pretty snow angels.javascript:add("%20 %20") Hey you could always use it to ice your knees while walking the yorkies. Just trying to help buddy. M/C

Dang John I figured you would get hit harder than we did? The way this storm hit was cold air from the north hit the warm most air from the south right here in central Arkieland. Started out as rain, very quickly turned to snow and man did it snow!
Early this morning they said on the news over 190k Arkies out of power and Conway just 30 minutes due east was totally dead so I figured we wouldn't keep power but since I went out in the cold and got the generator up to snuff we had no issues.
I have one of the big self propeled DR mower/whatever machines. Whatever meaning the front attachments come off and you can put almost any kind of thing on them, tiller, bushog, mower and one heck of a big generator. This thing is powered by a 25hp Kawasaki engine.
No Terrilee don't need any help shoveling, got a 16 year old stepson and two grandkids for that but thanks for the offer my friend.
Now MC I've never and I mean never had snow ice or any weather element hold me back from going anywhere. I once made it through a blizzard in Nebraska in a Ford Pinto in 1974! Drove 10mph for over 100 miles until I got out of it.
Even though the roads will refreeze tonight I'll make my 8:30 appointment in the morning because Conway will have power back by then. I drive a Chevy 4 X 4 and she's never let me down!

Well I got my share of the white stuff . 3 ft. drifts and still blowing hard. Did a little shoveling but not much. Mother put it there , then she can take it away. Yep , it's really good to be self suficient. My little coleman generator gives me heat, water , and the fridge. What else can a man want. It's a real shame that the snow is drifting, we really need the snow melt into the ground for moisture. The ground is still dry and the rivers are still low. Happy New Year Everyone May your wishes come true.

Well old man winter isn't through, got a good chance of freezing rain tonight through tomorrow morning to go on top of the snow that has melted very little. Had to go to town today, highway crews have done a good job clearing roads. The wife goes in tomorrow for work on her 3 day in a row shift so if it's ugly in the morning I'll be firing up the Chevy 4X4 and taking her to work. She'll take extra clothes and such because if it's still bad on the roads they put up nurses there who don't want to drive in bad weather. Weatherman says he's just not sure, might get just rain, maybe sleet and even some snow, they think the temps will be right at 32F? Sometimes the weather reports are useless! JR

I'm glad we could share with y'all. We've had about 7" since Christmas Eve. That's almost as much as we had all last year. I actually ran the snow blower. My sister-in-law caught caught in the Christmas Eve mess. Took her 9 hours to drive from Pittsburgh to her folks place in York.

JR isnt being a weather person a great job? its almost better than being a pro baseball player. a baseball player who hits .333 is consider a good hitter but in reality, that means they get a hit only 3 times every 10 times you get to bat. gee if i would only get 3 out of 10 things right at work DANG i woulda been fired quick
