Today after a long day of riding yesterday I went into my garage to see large oil spots leaking on the ground. I am sure its the stator cover leaking oil I just took it off a few days ago and stripped 2 out of 10 of the bolts that hold it on.
Looks like we have a leaker I think its shot and not worth putting more money into it to fix this aluminium stripped block.
Any cheap tips to fix this before I scrap it?

You may be able to re-tap those screw holes

If the bolt body is still in there you may be able to drill in the center of he bolt and use an 'easy out' in this hole to help back out the screw remains.
If the hole and threads themselves are messed up you may be able to re drill to fit a Helicoil thread system.
Just a couple of ideas.

Hi Bob, can you buy a easy out kit and where? That would be a good thing to have around

I believe that a set of easy outs can be found at Sears, maybe even in some auto stores.
Google 'easy out' and see what comes up. There appear to be different styles for the job. .

Grab some lock pliers and pull and turn to get them out then go to the hardware store and get the same size but NONE METRIC they are a tad bigger and screw those in that works pretty good. Alleyoop

Another old trick I've used is drain the oil after you remove the bolts, blow the holes out good with carb cleaner then hit them with a air hose. As Alley said go get a coarse thread bolt that looks the same size, I'm thinking 1/4" and mix up some quik set JB Weld, put it in the hole and on the bolt threads.
Screw them in and snug them nicley but not too harsh and let her sit overnight. Fill her with oil and see what happens.
If you ever need to remove them the JB will let go and be part of the permanent threads.
A cheap and doesn't take all day to do fix.

JR - that's a great idea. I never thought of that. Ridecheap, I stripped a couple of mine out as well. I went to harbor freight and got a tap and die set for about $15 and retapped the holes. I know you can get an easy out (and a tap and die for that matter) at any auto parts store. With that said, JR's suggestion sounds the easiest.
