I'm terribly sorry, because I neglected to mention that I know fair well the battery cover will need to be modded. I plan on cutting a hole for the battery to come through the top of the battery cover. I've seen this done elsewhere. What I should've asked was if it would STILL be too tall... I don't want the battery to hit the bottom of the seat when I close it.

Well I don't think anybody has put in a 2 inch taller battery that I remember on here. But just to make sure it will not hit the bottom of the seat. Geat 2 pieces of thin Wood OR Wire and cut them the same size as the battery is tall. Then tape them to the inside of the battery compartment and close the seat then open the seat if they are broke or wire is bent then you know the battery will not fit. Alleyoop

Alas, my scooter is some 40 odd miles away at the scooter shop which is attempting to charge me $140 for an SLA battery from a company unfamiliar to me. I was hoping someone here had experience with this mod, since battery and charging system are often problematic on these bikes. I don't suppose I could talk someone into measuring for me? LOL j/k Thanks for the help. I guess I'll just cross my fingers and proceed.

WOW!! $140.00 bucks for a scoot battery, they are ripping you off my friend. I would tell them no do not put a battery in tell them you already have a new one and you will put it in if needed. Just tell them to fix whatever your haveing fixed and go and pick it up. Alleyoop

Alleyoop I would but that would mean getting a trailer and taking it home BEFORE I hear it run and check out the work they supposedly did (carb related). Now you see why I'm just taking a new battery when I go, and I won't leave until I can ride it away. Yes! $140.00 for a cheap 9amp battery... Did you not read the first line of my OP???

Now that is a much better battery than what they were going to stick you with.
And yes I read the first line on your post but i was concentrating on the size of the battery you were contemplating on getting. Everyone here knows that 140.00 for a battery is just plain high way robbery and seeing what they wanted for a battery I hate to see the bill for whatever they did(TUNE UP). Alleyoop

Well getting a battery that has to many amps the problem is that the Charging system on the scoots may not be able to fully charge the battery. I mean on most scoots the charging system cannot even keep up when you put the lights on. Alleyoop
