Looking for the crankshaft position sensor on the Suzuki Bergman 650. Any leads on where to find the critter?

I think we got a GREAT deal! $1200 and we think we know what's wrong with it.  This thing is set up more like a car than a bike! Right up Dwayne's alley as far as working on it. I'll post pictures in a few minutes! Thank you so very much for the service manual JR!  |

Well, we have our first oh shiitake moment! If it is the crankshaft sensor, it's part of the STATOR! $650!! BREATHE!! BREATHE!! LOL Okay, so that's bringing the total to $1850 so far, still a good deal. Here's the next question. Before we buy this CKP and stator, anyone know where we can get one cheaper?

I don't know where you checked for parts but I did find many suppliers listed on the majesty forum when my majesty took a crap. They have a sister forum and before you run out and pay dealer prices check with them there. On the yamaha majesty end of the forum very few there know any thing at all about working on them out side of take it to the dealer if it is more than a plug or a belt. .burgmanusa.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> .burgmanusa.com/ the burgman forum is quite a bit larger than the majesty forum and may just have some answers and internet discount dealers. I ended up buying parts from Service Honda for my majesty. They are at least 30% less than a local dealer. The people at the burgman place may be able to steer you to an even better place to get parts for yours. Its very possible the people you got your burgman from knew exactly what they were doing selling at that price. I know for a fact that both the suzuki and yamaha scooters are extremely expensive for major repairs at the dealer level. One fellow said the in warranty (recall) replacement of his fuel pump on a 400cc majesty came in at around $1800. (separate the frame to get gas tank out, to get the EFI pump out of the tank) john |

Thanks for trying to help JR. We've come to realize that the part we need, the ckp, is not available without buying the stator. If you look at the picture on the last link, you see the first plastic box on the stator wire, by the number 6? That's the CPK, crankshaft positioning sensor. You can't buy one without the other. Thanks for that link though, it saves us about a hundred bucks. ;  One positive so far, the fuel pump was bad from sitting with nasty gas for so long. Dwayne pulled it out, took the plastic case apart, tested the pump itself, it was bad. He started looking at it, guess what? It's the same pump Chevy uses for a shiitake load of trucks! Bought one off the shelf at advance, now we're pumping fuel. It had a lot of water in the oil, muddy cloudy oil. We're hoping it's from sitting 2-3 years, not because of mechanical failure. It was said to be running when the owner died, then the kids tried to ride it and it wouldn't crank. So far, drained all the fluids, replaced the fuel pump, removed the stator and cleaned all connections, replaced, now we have fire, fuel injectors are firing, fuel pump is pumping, and a new battery. Tomorrow we add the fluids and try to fire her up! If we can get her to run we'll do a proper PDI after we let the oil circulate a bit. See if it collects any more moisture. She's a project bike, but we have time and patience, hope it doesn't get too expensive or Dwayne'll be riding this thing til he's 70 to make it pay off! LOL |

If this thing does turn out to be a money pit, I honestly don't think the gentleman that sold it to us knew anything he didn't tell us. He's "old school", probably pushing 75, just out to sell it. He wanted to see how much we would charge to diagnose the problem, then how much to fix it, so he could decide if he wanted to try to fix it before he sold it. His grandson was supposed to have been working on it, said he "cleaned the carburetors"?! He kept asking for money for parts and the bike still wasn't running, so gramps said no, selling as is. When he said he wanted 1,500 as is, my dad jumped in and offered 1,200 before Dwayne even set eyes on it. Even if we have to sink a good deal into this bike, it'll be worth it to us. ; |

Yep, this is going to be QUITE the project bike. We have water in the oil, water in the intake manifold, water EVERY WHERE!! This thing got flooded while it was sitting up.  Oh well, one step at the time. Injectors firing finally. Still not cranking, but getting there.  |

Latest update. Fuel pump not working, ordered one off ebay from a "cyclenetparts". He finally contacts me the day after it was due to deliver and tells me that it was sold and relisted. He's unable to get the part. So far, no refund on my money. NEVER USE CYCLENETPARTS on EBAY. Oh well, that's what we get for trying to put a used part on it I guess. So now we're ordering it from our local dealer for almost double the price, but I bet it'll be in when they say. Working on my SugarScoot while we wait on the carb to come in for the Burgman. Hey JR, we just might come for a spin up your way next spring. |

if you take the old pump out you might be able to take it to the auto parts store and match it up worth a try in my book
