Nice! Todd! What's the actual temps on the scooter now that you have a correct reading?

Nice! Todd! What's the actual temps on the scooter now that you have a correct reading? JR Jr it seemed to be pretty close to the chino but Really think we ended up with an Airpocket by the way it reacted. We were running all of a sudden it spiked up to 240 we slowed down for about a mile and it dropped to 160 and then stayed steady there the rest of the 24 mile trip. We will give it more of a test tomorrow we are planing to go riding probably a bout a 150 miles or so tomorrow.

It is inline about 1.5 inches from the Thermostat and the original sending unit.

Ok Yesterdays ride only ended up being 120 miles. Ran a Trip From My house to Madison and back. We were able to run first 20 miles about 55 mph then the Jonway wants to come up to about 200 degrees. We back off and run 48 mph it stays right around 185 degrees. Temps out side was around 82 degrees. All in all not that bad. Really no wind was a very nice ride. On the bright side when we got back and filled up the Linhai got 73 mpg and the Jonway was at 65 mpg. So My dad was happy with the results and will continue to ride the Jonway his 20 mile distance he goes and I will continue to ride the Linhai my 55 mile trip to work. We both are getting chance to ride so life is good. In the last 2 weeks I have ridden to work more times than I have in the last 3 years. So I am very happy. ;D

Hey Todd,
So when it was running at 185 and 200, what was the chino meter reading?
Can you give us some information like - when scoot is at X-temp, Chino meter is at 1/4 mark. When scoot at Y-temp, Chino meter at 1/2 mark, etc?
Also, at what temp is that fan coming on? (always been curious about that one..)
Thanks!

Ok Well the Chino gauge at 1/4 is around 155 at half it was about 170 at 3/4 around 190 and up around the red it was at the 200+ range so that gauge is a lot closer than I though. The fan would come on at the 1/4 mark all the time... but would cycle on and off. But with the good R/R on it the voltage is always around 15 volts with one light off. I was talking with a Motorcycle friend of mine he was thinking that since the temp seems to jump at high speed only that maybe it is running to lean on the Main Jet. Next time My dad brings it down I will try bringing the diaphragm needle up just a bit to richen it up a bit. See if that helps with the temps.

And what are we supposed to run at, 180? So between 1/2 and 3/4 would be 'normal'?
Well then the fan definitely comes on wayyyy too soon. That's just the info I needed, thanks!

I just took delivery of an '08 Linhai Aeolus 260cc and along with other problems, my main concern is that it runs hot. It has 0.9 miles and has not been off the stand. I've flushed the radiaior (filthy) using Prestone flush, burped to the point I now have indigestion : , but have to shut it down when it reaches the red temperature line. Yes, I need help Please!

Blue,
This would be a good one to start a Whole new thread on so it does not get missed.
Ok are you 100 percent sure it is over heating? are there any signs of Oil or Water leaking? Any signs of possible head gasket problem? Linhai 257cc motors tend to run very cool so this is a huge suprise. Is the Thermostat bad and sticking closed?
You mentioned that you changed the fluid and it was real bad did you pull All the hoses at the motor and make sure you cleaned them out good? Sound to me like it might not be circulating and could be gunked up if it was ran with the original CHINO coolant in it you could have a clog by the motor that is not being seen.
Hope that helps. Todd

I found that to properly burp the cooling system is to remove the small hose at the thermostat housing and the add coolant. Once the coolant starts to come out of the port, reattach the hose and the continue to fill until topped off. Start the bike and wait. Once the level starts to drop at the fill port, add more until it doesn't take any more.
If you still have an overheating problem, then you have to look for a leak somewhere. Is your fan commingle on at all?
