I am looking at buying a SunL SL250-22. It is a 2008 with less than 2000 miles. Now I know that this unit needs work. I have been told that the stator and coil are for sure bad and need replaced. This is what the mechanic told me in the shop that it was serviced at and taken to to get fixed. The owner did not have the money to fix it and pay the mechanic. So the owner took it back non working. Here is what I am concerned about. I have been told that SunL is out of business. Is this true? I have not been able to confirm this. Also I have heard both that SunL are good bikes and that they are crap. I welcome your opinions.

Nice looking scooter! From what I can gather they are still in business but they do have a reputation of selling the scooter and then vanishing into thin air, for sure they are the first company to do that. Just like with any Chinese scooter they are what you make of them. If you take the time to strip her down and do the good through PDI you will probably end up with a great scooter. This scooter has the linhai and all who know me know I'm a linhai man. Replacing the stator is not big deal but we'll want to do the tests to be sure that's the problem before we just start throwing parts at it. But since it will not run I would bargain with them and just point blank say , hey I got to fix it then being it's Chinese too then here's my bottom dollar. Seems to me they would take the time to fix it to get more for it? So 08 model, 2k on it, not running, hmmmm $300 at the most. Even if you can't get it running if you pay someone to replace a stator and coil (if that's the problem) it should be no more than $200 to do that if they treat you right? So you could sell a running scooter for say $800 + easily and make a buck. But if you just hang in there with us we'll help you get her running for just parts cost. Keep us informed and we're here to help. JR

Don't worry if they're out of business. This scooter is sold under a dozen other 'brand names' as well - same scooter across all of them.

What damin said. When you're looking for parts, don't search by brand name. Search by the model. That "MC" number is pretty universal across brand. Try it in the "MC-62-250" and "MC62-250" configurations. On these china scoots, they start with MC, followed by a 2-digit model code (in my case 54, in your case 62) followed by the engine classification. Here's a perfect example. These guys call it the "fire wing" but look at the manufacturer #... it's "MC-62" .scooterdynasty.com/260ccfirewing.aspx" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.scooterdynasty.com/260ccfirewing.aspxVOG 260 will get you many results too - it's a common name for that scooter.

No prob.
The only thing I could imaging you'd have a hard time finding (maybe) is body parts. Anything engine related will be no problem at all.
