So while riding my scooter to work I was riding full throttle when all a sudden the scooter died as if I hit the choke switch. I coasted down to about 30mph then the scooter kickeed back on as if nothing was wrong. I got to work and parked it, then a few hrs later I started the scooter back up to go down to the store which is a few blocks down and the scooter made it round trip no problem. When I got off work I started the scooter to head home, I let it warm up for a little then as I hit the throttle the scooter died immediately!! I started it back up and it idled for 2 secs then died. Long story short I had my buddy pick me and the scooter up in his truck, I got home and tried to start the scooter and it will not start!!! I sounds like the engine wants to turn over! Not sure what the issue can be! I put more fuel( even though I had a half tank) I tried kick starting it and no luck there! I'm thinking its a fuel problem, the fuel lines could be blocked, a bad fuel filter or the fuel pump has gone bad. Please help. Thanks!! Extra info: It's a 2008 Tank racer 150, has 2080 miles on it.just replaced sparkplug and spark plug boot, gear and engine oil. .

Welcome to the forum! I'd say at this point it's fuel related also but since you did change the spark plug boot I would make sure I'm getting a good spark also. Sometimes these boots can malfuntion, one second they are making good connection the other not? If I had a good steady blue spark then the next step is the pull the old carb and go to our tech section for a good cleaning how to. Be sure to check the jets for blockage, change the fuel filter, in fact drain the gas and make sure you haven't got any water, it does happen you know and check all the vacuum lines for leaks. Loss of vacuum will keep the fuel pump from pumping correctly. Get back to us and keep us informed. We are here to help. JR

Here's an update on my situation! I tried every thing you mentioned and once I cleaned the carb I got the scooter to run for about 2 seconds but in order for the scooter to start up and keep running I had to be giving it a wide open throttle!!! and as soon as i let off the throttle the scooter died!! do you think it could be a bad carb? or do you think it can be an auto choke problem? Thanks

Its your valves they tighten up on you and you are looseing compression. Adjust your Valves to .004inchs each and it should crank right up. Now when the valves tighten up and the motor is looseing compression it acts as though something is wrong with the fuel Delivery. AND it is but not because of blockish its because its looseing compression and there is NOT ENOUGH SUCTION to open up the Petcock Valve or Fuel Pump Valve as well as not enough suction to draw fuel into the intake. If you have never adjusted the valves you need Feeler Gauges get them at any auto parts store make sure they have .004 and .005 thickness in the set A lot of them start with .008 which is to big of a gap for the Motors. Here is a Video on how to set the Cam Sprocket so both Valves can be adjusted at the same time. Alleyoop

Update! I adjust the valves today. You were right the bottom valve was closed. After I adjusted the scooter started right up. But now I have another issue while the scooter, while it idles the scooter sounds like it wants to die and eventually does after about 30seconds. Could this be my fuel/air mixture??? If so how do I get the proper mixture with the scooter only idling for 30sec??

Great!! Here is what your carb may look like it should be very similiar: This is the LEFT SIDE Notice where the Fuel Ratio Screw is: Before you start it TURN it CLOCKWISE until it stops DO NOT FORCE it just until it stops. THEN TURN it Counter Clockwise 2 1/2 turns. Now start it up. If it is IDLEING TO LOW raise the IDLE using the IDLE SPEED SCREW that is in the Second Picture. You turn that Clockwise to raise the IDLE and Counter Clockwise to Lower the IDLE. You want it to idle around 1500-1800 rpms AND YOUR REAR WHEEL NOT SPINNING. Here is the RIGHT SIDE OF THE CARB notice where the IDLE SPEED SCREW is, turning it Clockwise rasies the IDLE and Counter Clockwise Lowers the IDLE. Alleyoop

Are you sure the battery is charged up? To check if its the battery or Solenoid find the Solenoid and get a screwdriver and touch both terminals and see if the Starter Spins. If it spins the starter your Solenoid went south. Alleyoop

This is what the Solenoid looks like Touch both terminals with a screw driver to send voltage to the starter. Alleyoop

ok. Thank you. Ill try it. But i am about 90% sure its the battery because I charged it last night! Also would a bad solenoid have any effect on the scooter idling for a few seconds and then dying? ??
